I have been having problems reducing stitch numbers after I reduce the design on Wilcom Trusizer. I emailed Wilcom and this is their replÿ:

If you are using Truesizer, you will need an native EMB file in order for the software to removes stitches.
If the existing file is DST format Truesizer will only reduce in size and keep the existing stitch count.

My suggest is to get a digitizer to fix or redo the design.

I just tried this in TruSizer: Open the file you want to reduce (mine was a .pes) then go to File - Save As, and from the drop down box choose EMB as the format. You'll get a warning that this is not a native EMB design and may not resize etc correctly, however when I selected all and resized, the stitch number also reduced quite a lot. When you're done with editing the design, to be able to use this in your machine, you'll again need to convert the design back: File - Save As (choose your format) however you might want to slightly change the file name so that you don't overwrite you're original file: eg: bird.pes to bird.EMB (to convert/resize it) then bird-resized.pes to use it. Gosh hope this makes sense lol :) xXx

thanks, I tried everything you write but it only reduced the stitches by a very few, say 9 on a 14,000 design. However I dont like losing so I will have another try.

I was going to say basically the same thing. Generally, a design should be re-sized in the software it was created in for optimal results. Depending on the use guidelines, it would be difficult to get anyone to re-size it unless they own it.
