Just got my 100 spools of 1000m (1100yd) of madeira in the mail. People ask what I got for my birthday and I tell them 100,000metres of thread. Most people just don't get it.....................

To everyone who wanted to know where I got them from, I will have to look up the address. I think it is srthreads@aol.com. I found her through ebay. She does post overseas as she is in USA and I am in Australia. There is also a website for allstictch.com (US company) which have them for US$2.45 per spool and about US$44 postage. Given that I have never seen Madeira 1000mtr spools for less than $12.95 per spool in Australia I decided the only local I was going to support was myself. It was about $305 AUD this way, but to go local would have been over$1200. I have lots of projects in mind, including a quilt for my son with trucks, trains, tractors, machinery, planes, motorbikes, well, you all get the idea. As well as all sorts of other stuff. I selected my colours by going through my designs and seeing what I needed so I wouldn't be caught out. I have lots of other threads, but they are QA and I have found I have had too many breakages. At first they weren't a problem, but then it got worse, especially the darker colours. I will post when done. I also have the kids quilt to do, which I know YOU ALL ARE GOING TO CONTRIBUTE TO. Will definitley post that one, but it could take time doing it around the kids and work and such, but am looking forward to doing it.

I get it Libster2896, lol. I bought a big box of verigated cottons and put money towards my new embroidery software for my Birthday. For christmas I got 100 mtrs of tear away on a roll. Not exciting for some but for me it was what I wanted and needed. My software is still coming in the mail. lol. Sandra H. Australia.

Congrats libster. I had just recently purchased a bunch from Thread Art and they are wonderful to deal with. I love finally using proper threads (rayon) and getting that beautiful finish. Where did you get them from? I fully understand getting anything to do with embroidery (or bikes) for a gift. *4U ><>

Photo, minni, not likely, they're mine, mine, all mine, get your grubby mitts off them. But if we do end up in the same nut farm, maybe to pass the time we could tangle them all up and then straighten them out again. Beats weaving baskets. LOL.

bikermom, I found a lady who sells new 1100yd spools for $2.45 on ebay, but you can go direct, and pay only $2.40US. Saves me money and gets rid of her ebay fees. Do you want a contact? I think we were talking about madeira on ebay the other week.

anna25775 by anna25775 09 May 2008

oh now I am getting really green...... I pay €5.95 per spool here in Germany!!! thats round 8 or 9 US dollars!!!!!!! do you have any idea whether she sends overseas libster?

bikermomfl by bikermomfl 10 May 2008

libster, yes yes yes please send the link. I bought a large lot on ebay from seller M & K enterprises, great deal, super large spools. then I had to buy a seperate spool holder to put in on to feed into my machine. have fun.
