NEED HELP ON COVING UP A LOGO.

A friend has a hoodie with a logo on it and the company sold out. He wants me to cover it with something so he can still ware the hoodie. Only have a 4x4 brother machine and 4x4 old, old janome machine. The designs are not wide enough to cover it. It is 4.25 wide ...height is probably 2.5 to 3 inches. Anyone have a suggestion on how to cover it with embroidery?

MY husband was given a coat years ago that was never worn with a logo on it. I painstakingly removed the logo, and had our business logo applied to it(I did not have an embroidery machine back then so I paid to have a new design added). You could remove enough of the logo to be able to cover it with a new design, or remove the whole logo depending on your patience if you don't like patches. Good Luck in whatever you do.

Should have read all the way down, lol! Didn't realize it was screen printed. I have removed these with an iron, but it depends on the screen printing, so You would have to test a corner first. Just a thought.

I would do an applique with a heavy fabric, such as drapery weight. Or a patch. There are lots of good ideas here. I have several sports sweatshirts, and I'm not a sports person. I want to do the same thing!! I just haven't figured out how to stitch over the embroidery so it isn't so dense, but at the same time, don't want to cut out the embroidery already there because that compromises the integrity of the sweatshirt.

Ok here is what I did....will have to get the ok from the man whom I am doing this for but I went into machines frames and found a narrow long one...went into that and enlarged it as much as I could. Put a mini ship on left edge then sewed onto the hoodie. I hope it looks ok I still need to trim the edges.

I would say, embroider a 4x4 design as large as you can. Unhoop, place another piece of fusible interfacing, fusible to right side of embroidery, sew around an area large enough to cover logo (like an oval or rectangle or other shape. Slit only interfacing in the middle and turn right side out, smooth edges. Fusible side now on outside. Place and press to adhere to hoodie..applique with blanket stitch, satin or blind stitch by hand. You can also free motion quilt around embroidery to further enhance and help keep applique from "poofing" up.

Great question! I like the patch idea, mainly because I do not have enough practise at butting things or matching things up. I do know that brother machines have ways to connect letters if you want to go that way! Good Luck, keep us posted. Thanks Live Laugh Download Stitch!

Find a couple designs that you could butt up to each other. You would have to hoop twice and hopefully it could be covered that way. Or do his monogram. There are several that are squared off that you could get close enough to cover the design.

Thank you...I have done the cover patch like that but this time it is to small to go across and cover the logo.

On your patch, [whether you choose embroidery or some nice fabric from the nearest Patchwork store] iron on the back some Vlisofix. This is a fine spider-web like substance which will iron onto your hoodie and prevent your patch from fraying. You will still need to stitch around the edge with a blanket or satin stitch. I like blanket, it won't stretch as much on your fleecy fabric.

We used to have a tutorial on making patches. Can someone help lead bonnetgirl to that tutorial, please?
Hugs,

I would create a patch. I did that for a bag that was huge, but you could embroider anything on the patch, turn the edges over, or nowadays, a lot of clothing has raw edges showing, just stitch it over the logo! :) Hope that helps!

He wanted me to embroider over top of it and since it is screen printed I thought I could do it. It is the size that has me stumped.
