Multi-coloured bobbins.

Where can I purchase the multi-coloured bobbins? I must be looking in the wrong place. All I can find is green bobbins and multi-coloured everything else.

I got them from my Viking dealer and use the green ones for embroidery thread and the colored ones for various other threads. I like being able to tell at a glance that I have the right one. I believe Viking is the only one to have them here in the USA that I am aware of.

Thank you for that information. Looks like Viking is the only company selling them at present. I'm in Australia so I'll make enquiries here, too.

Alma, you can use L pre-wound bobbins (white/black/or colors) but be careful buying empty bobbins anywhere except from Viking! I just won the Embroidery Library tip of the day today, and it was about the colored bobbins. I use the green ones that came with the machine (and any green ones from a multi colored pack) for regular sewing thread. I use all the other rainbow colored empty bobbins to wind embroidery thread. That way when I want to do FSL, or just match a garment, I can see at a glance that the colored bobbin (no matter the color of thread) is embroidery thread. I don't have to be so careful about keeping them seperate! Linda

Thank you, Linda. This is how I want to organise my bobbins, too, when I get the coloured ones. I also use tiny hair elastic rings to indicate the colour of the embroidery thread and keep it under control on the bobbin in the box.

Hi Alma, my dealer here in Newcastle - Thorpe's Sewing machines sells them. I bought them in packs of 10 I think, or it could be 12. They are purple, yellow, red, and a pinkish colour. Love Chris

Thanks, Chris - looks like Thorpe's are building their website right now.
My nearest dealer is in Hamilton, Victoria, and I went through Hamilton last Monday. I'll contact them.

DeVon - thank you for that help.

I thought the bobbins themselves were multi-coloured, not the threads.... :}
I have used plastic-sided L prewound bobbins with different coloured threads. They work well in my machine and I like them a lot.

My viking dealer has them but they are for Viking machine. Just be sure they are compatible with your machine.

Thank you, clawton..... I'll contact my dealer and make enquiries. I have the Husqvarna Viking Designer II. Maybe I'll be lucky.
