It's 6 p.m. Sunday,18th September and I've had a sunshiny, Vitamin D day. It's been wonderful to feel that warmth all the way through space on my winter-white skin again.

I had to come in and sit down for a while so I started reading the Community Messages from the beginning - 29th June, 2007, was the first message so I guess the very first ones have been lost since Cute Embroidery is now five years old. Very interesting reading, too.

I recognised a handful of 'oldies' but what struck me most was that the messages haven't changed all that much since 2007. I wish I had taken more of an active part then because by 2007 I had already had my embroidery machine for one whole year and I knew of this site. Not until April 2009 did I find the courage to open my new embroidery unit and begin to use it. I lost three years of great fun and now I'm trying hard to catch up.

I think we are more aware now of members needs and personalities, and I guess that sort of thing takes time. It's a very precious feature of this site to value and nurture.

We still have the same kind of questions and calls for help and I am so glad that we still have members here who are willing to give that help instead of having someone who is floundering in a torrent of cyber-information just to be told, 'Read the archives.' Archives are overwhelming places to someone who is just beginning to tackle an extensive craft knowledge bank such as Machine Embroidery can present. I know - I was told, once, on another list of a different craft to 'read the archives' in answer to my question. I didn't know such things existed and I was humiliated, embarrassed and crushed, and left the list. What a shame if we put a new machine embroiderer in that position!! The joy in this wonderful craft, for that person, would never see the light of day. To give a 'newbie' the encouragement that is sought is a healthy way for a site to grow, and share our pleasure in creating things of beauty.

I think the glorious Spring sunshine has made me philosophical. I hope it makes me brighter person, too. I'm glad I'm part of this large, caring community.

Well said and some great points.

I must admit I point people towards the archives for posts on SPECIFIC things such as Software programs, specifically Embird, but only because I feel like I have written a novel on the subject and I can't remember it all to write it down again and I don't want the person asking to miss out on valuable information, not only from me but other Cuties too.

Sometimes a subject can be done to death and the archival info is still valid and invaluable to those seeking advice.

Hasn't it just been glorious spring weather??
I went outside for a while today and pulled dead climber runners out of our teatrees. The ducks heard me talking and came up for a feed and my Himalayan, Mishka, decided to stalk the ducks until I spotted him.

I also caught up on all the washing, hung it out and got it dry. (unheard of for me as I usually shot everything in the dryer to save on ironing and time)

After that I went into my sewing room and set up one Embroidery machine, found the hoops for it, printed out a template of a design and gathered up the threads ready to do a test stitch.

Then it was time to feed the kids and prepare dinner.

Yes I love warm sunny days, Spring, Summer and Autumn but you can keep the cold weather.

Maybe tomorrow I'll start that stitchout as long as it isn't cold downstairs.

Hugs and roses, Meganne

Alma this is a beautiful post and I agree with you whole hardheartedly. Once in a while a Cutie disappears and doesn't post anymore. I always wonder what happened. That is the part that bothers me sometimes. They stay with me and I don't like loosing friends not knowing why. All the knowledge I have about embroidery came from here. (Maybe that why I don't post too much about embroidery) I feel still like an infant in this field.

Soozie - are you our Aussie snowbird?
Sounds like you've become hooked very quickly. I wasn't going to admit that I, too, keep my eye on the list during the day, but there you go.... I do.... Alma.

Hi Alma, couldn't agree with you more. It's been glorious here today too about 28-30C. Very unusual for this time of year. All my Wisteria is blooming. I'm picking my Poppies every other day as they open up and the smell of the jasmine on our neighbour's vine is to die for.

I too love coming on here and checking to see what gorgeous piece of craft has been made. I love to read the personal posts and enjoy the camararderie too of the wonderful people in the Community.

Thanks for always having something wonderful to say. God bless love Chris

Hi Chris - we have tulips and irises in our garden right now, and native trees just loaded with blossoms.

Glad the sun warmed thru to twinkle your toes.
I couldn't agree with you more. I normally don't
participate much on lists but feel comfortable here.
Very generous with information and kind to newbies.
Hugs
Linda aka bumblebee
PS I like the way the bumblebee bumbles from flower to flower soaking in the sun as it goes, never in to
much of a hurry and stops to smell the roses so to speak.

I love your picture of the bumblebee. We just don't stop to smell the roses often enough. We just don't see the lessons that nature has to offer us.

What a wonderful post Alma. I too spent the other day reading old posts, especially the ones where Cuties shared their names and where they live. There seem to be so many people that are not posting on the site any more and I wonder what has happened to them. Perhaps they are too busy or just caught up in their everyday lives. Cute has become a large part of my daily routine and I cannot wait to turn on my computer early each morning to see what has happened on the site overnight. I have only been doing machine embroidery for about 3 years. I wish I had found the embroidery and Cute years ago. I think I will now go and sit in the sun......... Sarah.

You have a few more hours of sun left for today - I now have to prepare our evening meal. People move on, some just pop in to read occasionally. It's great that this is an evolving and active site. Alma.
