the posted designs have been rendered into stitch files and no longer contain the data contained in the "native" file from the digitizing software. Re-sizing the stitch file can result in a damaged design. Here is a quote from the help menu of Wilcom Truesizer.

"You can scale a stitch design just like a normal design. However, because the stitch count does not change, the density increases or decreases with the design size. Thus you should not scale stitch designs by more than ±5% or some areas may be too thickly or too thinly covered." For more information on this look in the software's help menu under Opening stitch files. This free program is very nice for those of you who do not have digitizing software as it can also convert stitch files from one format to another. Just use caution when re-sizing and ALWAYS test stitch a re-sized design.

Thanks for the advice. Just as a matter of interest, My Bernina 830 has the option to reduce or increase the number of stitches in a design in 1% increments. This is really handy. It also resizes the design in the machine and if you wish you can then do the corresponding resize in the stitches.

My Janome 10001 will re-size up/down as much as 15% but there's still the issue of stitch count.

Thank you for this - I am sure that a lot of Cuties will learn from this post. So often I find a 4x4 design will still not fit my hoop. I think it is because 4 inches is just a tiny bit more than 100 centimeters and my machine is only happy when a design is less than 100 centimeters. Sarah.

That's why I don't even bother anymore when they are much over my 4x4. I'll size down a tiny bit but not much.

I am the same Debra. I rather try to angle the design so it fits in the hoop better. This has worked well for me.
