The cheapest place to purchase Embird is from SecretsofEmbroidery.com

If you sign up for their newsletter (free) first, you will earn Secret's dollars for every dollar you spend.
Also when you spend over $30 you get to choose a free Bonus set of designs all by different digitisers.

She should first download the trial version of Embird and make sure she has plenty of time to spend playing with it for the trial period.

If she decides to purchase a licence she can purchase Embird basic, which consists of "Manager" and "Editor".

I recommend "Font Engine" if she wishes to create her own text from the True Type fonts on her pc and if she wants to auto-digitise designs from WMF files and dingbats, while they aren't fantastic designs they can be a lot of fun.

She should also purchase the "Iconizer" module which will allow her to see her designs from Windows Explorer, (similar to SewIconz)
I don't know how ANYONE can be without this necessity.

If she purchases the module licences on separate days (from Secrets) she will be entitled to two free bonus sets of designs.

Embird is a couple of dollars cheaper from Secrets, a dispensation to Secrets so that they don't lose sales competing with Embird themselves.

The licence keys will still be sent directly from Embird and it doesn't take any longer.

Any other questions Raelene, please email me.

I purchased basic Embird and its Iconizer plug-in (to view my designs in actual size and full color) from the actual Embird website owned by Balarad: www.embird.com. There are a couple of places you can buy the Embird software for a slight few dollars less, but I prefer to buy from the owner of the software.
What one needs in the Embird program depends on what one wishes to be able to do. First you need to buy the basic software, then add additional plug-ins, as you need them. The basic Embird has a lot of useful features I enjoy, and I love the Iconizer. Whenever I wish to learn to digitize, I will purchase the Studio plug-in (digitizing portion). There is Font Engine, along with some alphabets, should you want to do a lot of monogramming.
I decided to buy the Embird CD ($9.99) to always have the complete program on disc. Once the disc is downloaded, one can purchase at the website, the basic software and whichever plug-ins wanted. Once the purchase is made a password for each will be emailed to you to activate the software which you have downloaded.
I do not know how I ever did machine embroidery without Embird! Love it! The best for the price!!
