Hey Cuties Update to my original message. Yes you can have an adjustable hoop for my machine. Yes you can click up and down to increase your normal 4x4. Your width will always be 4" but you can increase your depth by double & a bit, ideal for lettering and using a number of designs in one go. All WITHOUT UNHOOPING WOO HOO. Yes you can split designs, which cues each bit to your machine(I used PE Design 7).
Ive just ordered my new hoop, 100 x 172mm 4 pinned allowing 3 positions :D Once received I'll test my split design and update you 4x4 Cuties. Thank you to all the Cuties who responded to my message and gave flowers Mwah x

I have Embird, and I did split a design in two and used it in my 4x4 Brother 180D it came out perfect, I do not think there is an adjustable hoop for your model, I did not have the hoop at that time so I used my 4x4 hoop twice. You need to split the design first. Hope you have a better advice.

Jus, Welcome to Cute Embroidery. This is a fantastic site. I'm so glad you asked about this, I also have a SE400 and had no idea it did this. Duh! I guess I should read the book that is still in the wrapper. Thanks.

I also only have a 4x4 area to work in and also have a hoop that I can click up and down. I have never tried it and the instruction book is useless. Please let us know how you get on with splitting a design. Would love to try this. Sarah.

This is an area I am working on! I am thinking of purchasing embird so that I can split designs to use in my 5 x 7 hoop. The image area is still 4 x 4, however you can adjust the hoop in the lower and upper connections. In other words. you can do a 4 x 6 design with 2 starts in 1 hooping. stitch out 1 then move hoop and stich out 2. More to come!

Loving this idea, Ive just played about and found that I could just move the hoop up in the clip in thingymajig. Changed the software hoop to 4 x6 3/4. Im about to play with a design so wish me luck :)

will not make any difference.the size of the embroidery field is only for a 4x4 . Now if there was a 5x7 hoop that flipped like the mega hoops due, then you could use one but I don't know if there is such a hoop.

I have seen an adjustable hoop size for the SE400 which enables you to up one notch on the clipin thingy. Im about to play with a few ideas to see what the outcome is. Its the extra depth that I need only an inch.

Sorry, this machine only does 4x4 designs. You need a smaller design or a machine that will do 5x7.

Im aware that the area is only 4x4 but you can add an inch by splitting a design. I only want to add an extra inch to the depth without unhooping. So I'll play around and see.
