or hopefully my piece. I didn't know that when I took up embroidery I would get a maters in machine tech! Anyone got any ideas on what I need to do after I get it un-attached? Please and thank you.

My first one had me in tears! I did not know I could skip back to the beginning of a color or skip a color so I was under the impression it was ruined! I tossed it out. I learned just recently that I can skip colors or stitches or go back to a color or skip back stitches. I still get an occasional "birds nest", and like you never can figure out what caused it. Once I get it cleaned out and the pattern cleaned up I can usually go back and redo it without a problem. Good Luck!!!

That happens to me if I accidentally put a fresh bobbin in up-side-down. It seems to fill the bobbin rather than stitch .. I only realise when the bobbin is overfull and the machine stops with a BEEP! hope your solution is just as simple :)

Try a different needle and different thread. Some machines are cranky and fussy about the needles that might have a scar/nick or a certain thread brand.

I skipped that color and put another sheet of stabilizer behind the one already attached and was able to finish. Not too much damage that I can't fix it by hand.
I was stitching a drink coozie and was using a med weight stabilizer.

Bird-nesting!!!!!
It happens to most people at some stage, I imagine.
It happened to me last Friday when I was stitching the front of DHDon's eyeglass holder....well, I was actually ironing at the other side of the table. I should have know better!! It pulled my throatplate out of the machine before I got around the corner of the table to stop the stitching.
The one wonderful thing about ME is that undoing the stitching seems to be a lot easier than normal sewing... to me, at least. Of course, I've had a lot of practice.... :}
Once I cut the throat plate off the back of the hoop, cleaned out all the loose bits of stitches and cleaned out the bobbin case of any stray bits of fluff or thread, re-threaded the machine and got the new needle in the right place to begin the design just before the birdnest site, everything went on as it should and there hasn't been a hiccup since.

The first birdnest I ever created was on a new towel monogramming for DHDon. That freaked me out as the young ones say and I had a beauty of a job cutting out the stitches from the towel loops. Steep learning curve!!! Once it was cleaned up I went on stitching and no-one, except all of you, to this day, knows that I goofed Big Time.

I know this seems like a simple solution - but have you checked the tension of the bobbin and upper threads? I hope you can work it out. It took me 2 hours yesterday to try and thread my overlocker. So I can empathise with you. Good luck with it all. Love Chris

I had that very same problem with my machine. It went through three major overhauls before they finally figured out that they gave me the wrong bobbin carrier. I just got the right one and now it stitches beautifully!!
Try a new bobbin, and make sure that the bobbin is seated correctly (when you pull the thread, make sure that it turns counter clockwise if that is the way it is supposed to turn. I've been through this more times than I can count, so I can really understand what you are saying. Also, make sure that the foot of your embroidery machine is fastened on tight, AND that you have the right foot for the job. Those things sound like "duh!" but sometimes frustration can help us overlook them. I'll check back in a bit to see how you are doing.

What type fabric are you embroidering on? Not trying to be rude, did you use stabilizer or the right kind of stabilizer? I have had this to happen when I first started embroidery. I was stitching on a T shirt and did not have heavy enough stabilizer behind it and I had a mess. My friend's husband and son decided to stitch a design on a football type shirt and used no stabilizer and that is what happened to her machine. Hope you find out what is wrong. Good luck! Sara

I undid everything. Re-threaded and took out the bobbin and the chase. I made sure all the thread and lint was out. Reinstalled everything. I sewed a few stitches and it is doing it again. Uggg!
