Just discovered how marvelous 505, temporary fabric adhesive, is in hooping projects of knit shirts. No more trying to hold everything in place to hoop, no smell, no gumming, less stress!!!

I have tried several spray adhesives and was not happy with most of them. The 505 is one of the better ones but is too costly for me. Now all I use is glue sticks from Staples, they work great and are non toxic and washable.

Lucky You Cute friends - under $ 20.00 !!! Here where I live ,I have to pay for a spray adhesive (recalling it is 505) 27.00€ = $42.20 !!! And it was in sale - usually it`s 37.00€ = $57.83 . Soooh... I haven`t tried it yet! That`s why I have had trouble in emroidering my works.

I have been using KK2000 which is by Solvy, but it smells, so I'm going to try the 505. I have also tried HR5 and it does not hold as well as the KK2000. Thanks for the info!;)

I need to get an adhesive and will check into getting that one for I've heard this many times. Thank you for the heads up again (especially the part of "no smell"). *4U ><>

An added advantage of using a temporary adhesive on t-shirt fabric is that it doesn't allow the fabric to move while stitching. T-shirt fabric has a tendency to push away from the needle and stretch out of shape while stitching. I use the adhesive or a fusible backing on all knits.

clawton, isn't it fun when you find something new - then every one tells you that they already use it - why didn't they speak up and tell you? Hehehe! Me, too! Sorry! *4U

I tried some type from the local Wal Mart but didn't work very well. I first saw it mentioned here on Cute but wasn't able to find it locally. I finally found a reliabe site on line that is close. It is great.

I use that stuff all of the time! Makes life VERY easy when it comes to hooping items.

What is it and where do you buy it?

Simplyrosie listed a link in her response. Check it out. It is a temp type glue that holds the fabrics together. It is very handy when making bookmarks, coaster and of course when trying to hold everything in place to get it into the hoop for shirts and etc.

Look for the link for Allstitch.net

I didn't realize you meant a spray adhesive. I only have Dritz spray adhesive. which I buy at Joanne's and usually use my 40% off coupon. If you think this product to be superior, I'll cerently try it. I put a lot of embroidery on t-shirts.

I've used Dritz without any problem as well as 505. They are both good.

clawton, I also use 505 and find it invaluable. I have also bought a special solvent to clean my hoops etc., because you do get a buildup after a while. *4U Shirley

clawton by clawton 28 Apr 2008

It's great.

coco128, one of our suppliers here used to own a drycleaning shop and she supplies a solvent they use for drycleaning. Sorry I don't know the name!!

I have used two different cleaners on my hoops: 1)Mr Clean Magic Eraser & 2)Goof Off2. Both are safe on plastic, low odor and they work. Both came from Wal-Mart.
