believer, welcome to *Cute*. I'm a tad confused because I answered exactly this same question earlier for iris!!! So here's the answer I gave her. A wmf file is not a machine format, it is a graphics file. So are you trying to digitise? If you are, then when you have finished, you will need to convert it to a suitable format, for the Futura I would do a *xxx* file. The Futura is capable of using *most* embroidery formats, but the main format for that machine is xxx. Hope this helps you believer, if you need more help, just yell. Hugs and a flower sweetie.

Believer, Welcome to the Cute family, Come back often( like you won't . This site is very addictive, but you will enjoy every minute you are here) As to your question, I believe you should download ART, but you could always call your dealer and they would know. I use PES but I am sure there are others in the family that could help you. But I do want to give you a flower for your growing bouquet and Welcome again.

WMP files are a type of vector art files that are used by some digitizing software to create/digitize your own embroidery designs. This format would be for your digitizing software only and not for stitching out designs on your machine. Your software would allow you to create an embroidery design and when you save the new design the software would automatically save the design in the format that your machine uses. From your computer look in the folder that contains your existing embroidery files to see what the letters are in the file names that appear after the '.' (period). Example would be 'lace.pes', lace.hus', lace.vip', etc. (there are many more file types) That should tell you which file type is used by your machine itself.

If you purchase graphics or artwork for digitizing you should purchase wmf format. That type of vector art will automatically be separated into sections by your software which makes it much easier to digitize.

Welcome believer to the 'CUTE' family - I don't have one of those - but do believe that you would use ART format. *4U Shirlene

Hi, Believer, welcome to our 'Cute Family' here!!! I don't have your machine, but I'm sure someone here will know an answer for you. Your machine takes a sewing format of some kind, like pes, jef, art, etc. Those are 'stitch' files the machine can read to do the embroidery. I am assuming what you're talking about is your digitizing software taking the wmf format so you can import a piece of art to digitize. I have Janome Digitizer Pro, and it will use bmp's , but not jpg's. Where did you get your machine? Surely your dealer should be able to answer any questions you have. Or so one would think, but not necessarily so I have found out here. Anyway, someone will be of more help than I am, so hang around. Glad you're here!! Marji

Thank you so very much. As I said, I'm so new and am learning from scratch. I actually purchase the machine from HSN although it's also available at Jo Anne's. The manual says "vector art" or .wmf is good but bmp's are more difficult!!!
