And that I must take a few seconds and join grouply. Well cuties, I was had and I clicked on the link and gave my yahoo account password. 2 days later I got an email from the threadsnscissors moderator stating that was a fake email. About this time I noticed my computer stopped working well. Gave out my personal info and probably got a virus too.

Watch out for GROUPLY cuties. Sadly, I had never heard of it....

Better change your password. That will keep them out.

Yes, I have a feeling the virus is a spyware that watches the passwords you type in. Plan to scan for/remove virus THEN change passwords.

O my goodness - I've been in there as well. Lucky for me though I clicked on the second link and it asked me for my e-mail and a password. I could not understand where to get the password from and there were no link to register so I decided to rather leave it and I closed it. I never gave any yahoo details. I also only use the yahoo details to go into the groups. All my group e-mails get sent to the yahoo e-mail and I browse through them 2 to 3x times a week, so my personal e-mail is never overflowing. But yes you are right they probably went into your profile as well.

Oh, boy, I hope you can get this corrected. This "grouply" thing has been around for a long time, especially in Yahoo groups, so I'm surprised you've not heard of it. I can't remember exactly how, but somehow it hijacks the person's e-mail address book and sends out invitations to everyone to join. They look like they came from the person you know, but that person doesn't know anything about it. Then it propagates, because usually someone unsuspecting like you clicks on it, and off it goes again. Watch out, because it probably hijacked your address book, too. You might want to send out a blanket mail to everyone in your book to the effect that they should not click on any e-mail from you inviting them to join "Grouply". What a shame, I can't imagine what kind of kick people get thinking these things up. Oh, probably watch your bank accounts, etc., I'm not sure what kind of information this thing can suck off your computer. Best of luck to you getting this all straightened out, hugs, Marji
