I like to use unusual materials and balsa wood certainly is that - but what on earth do you do with it when you've embroidered it?

I had a look at EmbLibrary's project section as they usually have splendid ideas for using different techniques, but there's nothing on embroidering on balsa wood.
In the past I've seen it used on the top and sides of cigar boxes ( the expensive ones come the nicest boxes) and on the top of camember boxes (not the cardboard ones), but I don't think the latter will ever smell of roses. :)
Coasters seems a great idea.
I'm curious what you will come up with!

The problem is it is only about 10cm wide which limits the creativity!

I had a few minutes to spare so I tried this dolphin, but it will probably stay in the pile of test stitchouts for ever (I can't make a pincushion out of it!)
I did the rose ages ago and put it in a frame. (It is coloured with water colours BTW.)
I'm not usually short on ideas but this one is frustrating me! Over to you.
