my son asked me to come to help her. The "bad" news - we are only allowed 1 case of 23kg Translantic these days - when they got married two years ago it was 2 cases of 32kgs each! We took one case of sweets and chocs for the candy bar at the wedding! There is so much I want to do (make) but won't have embroidery machine to work on - my sis says to hire one!

Well, looking at the brighter side - at least you are able to help. Like someone else mentioned - clothes are cheaper in the states!
Even emb. thread - the metro is cheap but good and fast delivery - maybe you could order some and take back with you as if you rented or borrowed a machine you wouldn't use it all up.
Just make sure you bring only a little bit of clothes and too big a suitcase so you have room to take some stuff back with you.
When do you leave?

Definitely little clothes as I have lots of baby things to carry with empty case coming home (ha ha). But the Metro thread won't go to waste, my sist just bought a Pfaff Creative 2... and so I will just pass it on. I need to download all my designs onto a USB stick so I can embroider - that's a job and a half but I can always go into my Emlibrary account and pick up the designs that I purchased from them

I am so glad you are able to go and help out. Packing rolled clothes really does work and it can be done so they have few if any wrinkles. I mail stuff home because I can't carry the extra weight. And what nice surprise for your son and DIL.

I love Sally's thinking! You can get such cheap clothing in America Elizabeth.

Trevor loves taking me overseas as I am a very organised packer. I only take 2 pairs of shoes, 3 pairs of black jersey trousers, 2 nighties and a couple of different tank tops and blouses. I'll also take a couple of evening outfits, 7 pairs of knickers and 3 bras and whenever I can just wash out the knickers. So if you plan you don't need to take too many clothes with you, that way you will have more case space to take things for the baby. Love and blessings Chris

P.S. I also roll everything of mine as it fits in eaier. This is not my suitcase, but a picture of someone who has done this style of packing.

You could pack a case and send unaccompanied on the same flight is cheaper than posting.
Or perhaps just take all the things you make no clothes and buy clothes when you get there. heheh! Hugs Sally

My son says there's a TJ Max not far! Seven weeks is quite a stay but as there are no "special" functions planned we don't need dress up clothes so the leggings, jeans, black pants, (track suit on board), couple T's, underwear, flops and that's it! If only ..........

I'm sure you have lots of ideas of things to make. Maybe someone will have one there that you could borrow. Maybe they rent them at the store? Taking all the threads and supplies could be a problem though. I'm guessing you'll have to make things when you return and mail them later. Hope you have a fantastic trip and enjoy that new family addition. I know your DIL is appreciating you being there to help out.
