Does the school offer some kind of help. I can not believe a teacher saying something like that, even for adults it is hard. God bless you.
Thank you all for your replies. My daughter is off to both the boys schools this week to chat with the principals. I will also be there on Wednesday for a week so hoping I can help in some small way.
That's horrible Sarah, What sort of 12 year old can keep their life separate even adults can't really do that.
You might want to take this up with the principle, his teacher and guidance teacher if there is one at a sit down to fill them in on what is going on in his life. Having him change teachers could be an option but with everything going on that would be another change for him to get used to. I had trouble with one of my daughter's teachers as she was teaching by intimidation and we didn't want our son to have to go through her. Went to the principle and after she was observed she was no longer working in our school district. It's difficult what to do and say but this teacher needs to be told his actions were inappropriate for the students age and situation.
The child is hurting & needs a guidance counsellor. Do they have a big brother program? She might find some help there. Teachers this day in time are not all what they ought to be./Lillian
I agree. Try to set up an appointment with a guidance counselor. He is grieving to with losing another dad, I am sure. Unfortunately, not all teachers have compassion or should be teaching. There are a few bad teachers just like any job has a few bad apples.
Not just a few, with 4 teachers in my fmly from all I hear from them there are a lot of baaad teachers out there. They are all in seperate school districts & I hear the same thing from all of them./Lillian
What a shame that he has a teacher that doesnt understand that part of her job is to care about her students. If he has guidance counselors at his school they might be helpful for him to talk to. This is a hard enough age. We will be thinking of you and your family.
Thank you. The teacher is actually a man, although it should make no difference.
