HELP!!! I am embroidering a baby blanket and my thread keeps unraveling as it is being stitched out. What can I do to fix it? Maybe a needle change? Any ideas?

You got good answers, If the top thread is unraveling it is usually the bobbin thread not catching. Try all of the suggestions given to you. I would completely rethread and try again.

is your thread unvaveling from the reel and catching around the thread holder. if so on the disc you place on the bar after the thread goes on it has 2 sides and centre of that disk has 2 different sizes to fit into the end of the reel you need to find the side that fits into the end of the reel some have a larger hole that other threads at the top.

I would say that if the top thread is the one unraveling it is because your bobbin thread is not catching correctly. If you have an automatic cutter try pulling the bobbin thread up and hold fora the first few stitches. Good luck.

One other tip after Ruthie's sound advice. If your cone of thread is in an upright position turning it upside down sometimes helps. Good luck. Flower for you.

tatorbugcreations, no wonder you yelled *help*, I would too. There are a number of solutions that you can try. 1)make sure that the machine is threaded properly - including the bobbin - unthread completely, then rethread. 2) change the needle. 3)use thread nets - they keep the thread from unwinding off the spool too quickly. Also I have heard of someone using a packing peanut - thread the thread through this and put it near where the tension disk is (usually on the top of your machine), I haven't tried this one though. Hope one or more of these works for you sweetie, hugs and a flower for you.

THANK YOU so much! I changed the needle, and re threaded. Now it seems to be doing great! Boy am I relieved! The thread was making a big poof ball on top of the material. I have never seen anything like it before. I think that the needle was snagging it as it was going. You are great! I am so glad that I have such a wonderful place to turn to when I have an issue like this. I am sure you will be seeing more from me!
