As more people noticed, questions are never stupid. How can you learn not asking questions. Welcome to this site and enjoy it.*4U

Thanks for asking the question, you've given the people who are too shy answers to a question they are too shy to ask.

briauna, I don't see a stupid question in what you asked, in fact there are no stupid questions, only questions you don't know the answer to. And you are definitely not stupid - you were smart enough to ask. You have been given some very good answers, so enjoy learning about digitising, and hugs and a flower for you sweetie.

You have gotten some very nice answers, and they are correct. Digitizing is turning artwork into stitch files. One step further in defining it is auto-digitizing versus manual digitizing. Auto-digitizing is when the computer does pretty much the entire process. Because of this, it is quick and fairly easy to do, but the quality tends to suffer. Manual digitizing (also known as manual punch, or manual punch digitizing) is when the digitizer manually sets the stich points (basically the outline) for the design as well as the density, stitch direction, and stitch order (what stitches first, second, etc). Manual punch takes longer than auto-digitizing, but if the digitizer is good, the design will be too. If you are patient with yourself and you get yourself good software and adequate instruction, you too can learn to digitize (if that is what you desire). Let us know if you have other questions, ok? Many of us here love to "spread around" our knowledge. =]

How would we ever know anything if we didn't ask? Questions make us all smarter. Digitizing is to convert art work or a photo into a format your sewing machine can understand for stitch out. Computer software is used for this.

Digitizing, creating your own deesigns, I am in the process of learning how using software I received for christmas. Embird Studio &sfumato. as delonna says, so far I'm learning & anyone can it takes time & effort but it's fun when you stitch out something you have created yourself however simple it is. I have a workbook & it takes me through each step, you get daring & do a little more than the book says & that makes you a little braver to keep at it.If I can learn anyone can.

brianuna, welcome to the 'CUTE' family, there is no stupid quesitons, around here. There may be some that know and some that don't, that is all. It looks like dkjack & dlonna answered your question, so much better than I could. HaHa, I can't even stitch them out, let along digitize them. But, I do have a flower that I would love to give to you, here it is. Enjoy!

Digitizing is the the modern term for converting artwork into a series of commands to be read by an embroidery machine's computer that stiches out the design for you. *4U

You did come to the right place. I have never gotten a design right when I have tried, but will still try. Digitizing is the way in which you can take a picture, drawing, or clipart and turn it into an embroidery design for your machine. Come on cute friends, can you add to my limited knowledge?
