Thank you all for you input for the machine.I have another question, why does the colours of a design change when downloaded

Dst does not have a color palette, the color changes so the machine knows to sew #1, #2,etc. Notice they are always in the same order. If a file was digitized and saved into pes, that uses Brother colors. Depending on the amount of thread colors available to the format, you will get some changes. I use ped, but I usually save in vip, which uses Sulky and has lots of shadings. Lots of times I dl more than one type just for the colors. That's why it's nice for designers to include a txt file with their colors so we can match up. I don't always use what they started out with, but those colors are what attracted my eye to that design in the first place.

I don't know what machine you have, but I have a Brother which can run on PES or DST. If I put a PES design in, the colors are close to what the actual design is, based upon what choice in my machine settings I selected, either color, thread number, etc. Now, if I put the same design, but in DST, it looks like an Andy Warhol painting. I can't tell you why this is, but for whatever reason, the DST format does not translate the thread colors to my machine, even though I can sew that design either way. Hence, the value of the color change sheets, which I download into a folder with every design I have.
I don't know if this answers your question, but I do hope it helps a bit.
