I want to say I'll answer all your posts when I'm feeling a bit not so teary. I have been crying ever since we were in the surgery. I know you were all thinking of me, but she was my baby!!!!!

As I sit here writing this it's pouring outside and the tears are running down my cheeks onto my top. My eyes feel like swimming pools!!!! and I feel terrible.

I can't breathe as I'm so clogged up! Oh! I know what everyone means when you say you expect them just to pop around a corner or hallway. I just heard a magpie call and Bella always barked when she heard them as when she was a puppy they would steal her bones and she never forgot!

I am sure with time I will get better and I have such wonderful memories of her - she was with me everywhere I went.

Love to you all Chris and once again thanks everyone for the warm wishes and thoughts.

Hello, although we have never met, the feelings we share are so very powerful. I lost my "HEART" six years ago....and reading your words, well....its like it was yesterday...I LOVE this poem and so I am sharing it with you...today it will make you cry...but in time you will come to LOVE IT as I do today....God Bless you...
Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I know how the loss of a pet hurts. I asked my Mom once if dogs were in heaven. (I was an only child & my dog was my best friend!) She told me "The Bible tells us there's no tears in Heaven. If you would be sad without Sparky, she'll be there with you!" What a wise woman she was. Yes, you'll get better, but always miss her. And those memories will be sweeter & bring more smiles each day! Thinking of ya!!

Thanks Gerry, I have my little angel next to me that Amy bought and I have put Bella's hair in the wings. Amy thought it was lovely. She said she bought it for me because it reminded her of her when she used to carry Bella in her arms. Love Chris

Chris, I am so sorry - that this had to happen - but you did have this week - which was extra to share your love with Bella. It is never easy and there really isn't anything that anyone of us can say - that will take the hurt away - but we do love you.

Thanks so much Shirlene - yes we were so blessed to have had her all this time and this past week was extra special. We gave her all the wonderful little treats she used to have before she went on her pain medication. She chased some balls for a little time and visited all her favourite haunts. I have those memories for always, don't I? Love Chris

So true Judy - she even slept with us. She was a house dog and very clean as you can see from her pictures. We have this memory of her paws smelling like Popcorn and she had this gorgeous little almost crimped like hair behind her ears. Amy cut some of that to take with her. She will always be the best dog as far as I'm concerned. Love Chris

Bella was beautiful to look at and I am sure if she played around all of the children, she had to have a beautiful personality also. When the time is right you can find another to fill the void that is there now. A new furbaby can make her own place in your heart and lives. Memories of Bella will live in your heart forever. I can assure you that there are very many out there that need the love, care and affection that your family can give it. Each one that enters your life leave their own pawprints on your heart! I am sure that there is one waiting on you to find her/him that needs you more than you need it! Hugs and blessings, Linda

I am sorry Chris. I do know just how you feel. Let go and let it out. It was 9 months ago yesterday that Bebe left us. I still cry when it gets on my mind and I start thinking about how many wonderful yrs she was with me. I miss her and even Patty misses her and she was not with Bebe but 3 yrs. Patty will still walk around and look in the places that Bebe would take her naps away from the traffic in the house. They are all special when you love them and they love you. It is like losing a child even if it is a furbaby child! Hugs and blessings, Linda

This was a loving courageous decision you made for Bella with her deteriorating health. You have captured her many looks in photos and will always have her loving memories. Give yourself some time for that empty spot in your heart to mend. Lots of Hugs!

My eyes cry with you and my heart hurts for you. I just read your other post about having your precious fur baby Bella sent to The Rainbow Bridge. Like many who responded, my hubby and I have gone through saying goodbye to our beloved fur babies over the years. It never gets easy and we miss each and every one. We still have 3 little Chihuahua's to love and cherish and our ole cat who is 19 years old. I shudder to think how it will be at our house when the remaining 4 babies are no longer with us. At one time we had 8 Chihuahuas, 1 fox terrier and the cat. All our babies have been a huge part of our lives and we've loved every minute of it.
Big hugs to you!!!
and a special flower for you, your family and dear Bella.*****

1. This was her last "run" in the local Belmont foreshore. I was holding onto Ophelie too and Amy took the picture. I had just been to the hairdressers and it was blowing a gale!
2. Last picture taken of Bella with Amy (you can see she had been crying as her eyes are red) and my darling Trevor
3. My favourite of Amy and Bella on our loungesuite (we have a throw over it as the grand children tend to have grubby little fingers!!!!!)
