I recently purchased the Brother SE 350 and the PED Basic. I also was given monogram wizard and ez lettering / sizer. I was also given a ton of applqies and designs. My issue is thar when I go into MW or EZ and design my son's name or anyone else's name for that matter and I save it as a PES file, it will not allow me to open it when I go into that folder from my PED Basic. It opens all the images and appliques and names I was given by mybfriend but for some reason I can't design anything new because it will not show up in my PED so I can add it to the PED to use it on my machine. I have uninstalled my PED and reinstalled it. The computer all of this software is on has the XP operating software. My laptop has vista and I plan to try to install it all on my laptop to see if that helps but I was hoping someone could help me so I can keep it on my desktop. My friend has the same machine, same ped software and same monogram wizard software And she makes names all day long And had no trouble getting hers to open in the PED or transferring it to the PED. I am able to add all the images I wan that she gave me And even all the new designs ibdownloaded off the internet but for some reason I have yet to understand I can't add ANYTHING new that I have designed because it wont even open in the folder once I'm in my PED. The folder is empty of all the designs I created. I don't know what else to do. My friend couldn't figure it out And the box to the PED Basic says to go to the Brother website and download the PES data....well there isn't anything on the Brother website that says anything about PES data. Sorry this is so long but I needed to be completely. Clear. Please someone help me. I feel like this was a huge waste of money because I can't design anything because it wont open in my PED. Thank you for any and all help!!!!!!!!

Here again I found this in the Brother's site for you under Top 5 FAQ's. This is what it says on #5
http://welcome.solutions.brother....

Title:
When I create an embroidery pattern design on PE-DESIGN(PE-DESIGN, PE-DESIGN Lite, or PED-Basic), what Design Page Size is my sewing machine?
Description:
When you create an embroidery pattern design, please select the Design Page size that can be used with your machine on 'Design Page Property' dialog.

If using PE-DESIGN Ver.5 or Ver.6 when writing embroidery files to an original card, then select a hoop size usable on your machine from the "Write to Card" dialog.
If using PE-DESIGN Ver. 7 or Ver.8, then select a hoop size for your machine from the Hoop size in the Writing Box of the Design Database.

If you select wrong size and create your design on that page, the created embroidery pattern data cannot be read with your machine.
If you select wrong size and save files to an original card, the original card cannot be read on your machine.

Here is a bit more information on the Ped Basic. The person that told you it was not compatable with Vista is wrong.

It took a little searching on the Brother's site to find it but here is the update for the Ped Basic. I know I had to do this as I purchased mine over 4 yrs ago & when I got my laptop last yr I could not see some of my designs on my laptop through the Ped Box. I hope this is what you are looking for.

I have a Brother PC8500D and use the Monogram wizard with a Magic box from oesd. I did have to get a computer with xp because when I upgraded to vista NONE of my embroidery software would work on it. With the Magic box, I can convert any format to any other format. I love it. Good luck to you. :)

Return the pedbasic and get the pe-design lite. I had lots of problems until I did this. Ped Basic is NOT compatible with Vista, I do not know about XP. I did everything they web site and the sales rep said, and still nothing solved my problems. I could open it one day and the next I got error messages even after deleting and reinstalling. It took several days of calling one specialist after another, but I finally got to the point where they had to admit they couldn't help me and said to return it. Pe-Design will cost more unfortunately. I wish the sales reps would know what will and WON"T work BEFORE they sell it to you. GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Hopefully your problems will get them to ask questions BEFORE selling to the next person.
