I dont have a Bernina or Artista, BUT it sounds like a browser setting where your .art files have been associated with the Bernina software, so that when you are trying to DL a file, your Bernina software is trying to open that file before its finished downloading ... therefore Artista says that the file is in use .. well technically it is: your browser is still trying to DL it. Which browser do you use? Are you saving the file, or when you get the save box, does it say "open file with Artista" (or something to that effect). If so then you'll need to change your browsers file type options to unassociate those file with Artista, so that the files are saved to your computer, and then you'd manually open them in Artista. If you dont get asked at all where to put the file, then you have those files set to open with Artista rather then DL, so again you need to change your file associations in your browser options. Of course I could be completely off-course here, but I mention this because I accidentally associated .pes files with PED6 (Brother digitising software) and had the same problem you're having so now my browser always asks me what to do with the file (I chose "always ask"). Hope your fix is this easy and that you can DL again. :) xXx

An easier option is to always right click and "save as" but you'd have to do this with every .art file .. if you dont want to change your browser settings.

Will your computer not download the design from the website or will your machine not use it from your computer? Sorry but having a problem understanding.

I have a new Bernina 180 but it uses exp. on a stick so I download either art or pes and then convert to exp (with Bernina software V6) and then put the design on a stick. I have been a member here for a year and do not have problems downloading.

If you can let me know exactly where your problem is then I will try to talk you through the problem.

Thank you for your e mail I get the down
load which comes to my computer thru artista software. My soft ware can't ope it, I get other downloads from different sites which I'm able to open.I'm Jinxed!

Do not download thru artista software, click save aa and put the designs into a special folder marked "Designs" or whatever. THEN open your artista sofware and pull the design from the folder INTO the software. There should be a little orange envelope towards the top left of the screen - use that to get them out of the folder into the software. Then you can change the design to another format if you wish when you "save" it again - just click on the format pull down tab (under the name) on the save screen and choose which format you want. I know that this sounds like a lot of work but when you are used to it then it goes quickly. Just mail me if this is not clear

I get that message sometimes too. Go back and clear out your cache and close everything then try to download them again. Someplace that design is already open and until you close it nothing will download. Sometimes I just log off then back in again and that will do it. It drives me crazy because I can't see where the design is open but obviously when I close everything and it opens after that it must have been open. Oh and maybe add F.embperson.com to your mailing list and that will help. It may have something to do with your security program. Hope I've helped.

I tried to add F.embpersons.com to my
e mail list. It won't let me. My downloads
come to me zipped and go to my documents
them from to sew out. Thanks for trying
to help.

Are they zipped? You might have to unzip them first.

The downloads come in zipped and I unzip and they go to my documents. Then I pick
the design and it comes up in my software on which I then can sew.

You could choose the option to have them emailed to you. Maybe that will give you the correct file.

I too have an Artista 180 with V4 software and have not come across this message before. Perhaps you could try downloading in PES format & converting it to ART. The letter then . before embperson.com may cause the confusion.

Thank you for your answer. I can't download PES. I don't know how to convert to other formats. I just noticed that the down loads from Cute Emb. come thru F.embperson.com. I just hope that I didn't pay for nothing.

Do you have Portfolio as part of your Artista software? If so you can open PES files there & convert them to ART provided they are not newer that Version3

worth a try i have a brother and also the artista software ...i open the artista software then open the yellow folder at top of the page and drop it down at the bottom of the list click on "all files" and it should open then go to save and in the format you require in the folder you want hope this is some help for you.......ssozie

I have two 180's, so are you not able to download the ART file from CUTIES and are getting this message? Or you not able to upload it to your machine? I think you may have to reboot you computer and then maybe you can download the file if that is the problem.

I have tried several. It always come up with that message if it comes from:R.embpersons.com. I can get others with Art. I have version 3 maybe this is
newer.
