sorry I read this so late. I wish you a lot of strength my dear. But I do know Your dead will accompany Bella. they will both keep that special place in your heart and you will always remember the love you shared.love and hugs for you my dear in these hard days.
Prayers & thoughts continue to be with you. Just think...he got to spend Easter with the Lord Himself!
Sad but very touching moments that will live in your hearts and minds forever. This looks like it would have been a perfect day and everyone seems to be participating in setting your Dad's spirits free to go join nature at its finest. It is a beautiful spot and since it was a favorite of your Dads' I think all of you had the right idea. It is wonderful to see that your Mom has done so well and is always smiling and feeling good about herself. It sometimes is very hard to adapt after so many years together. You and your family are a very close and loving family and it shows in all that you say and do. Your Mom is very lucky to have children that turned out so well and raised their children to do the same. May the Lord bless all of you in everything you do! You give your Mom a hug and tell her that a total stranger all the way from Atlanta, Ga. thinks she the the epitome of grace, love and dignity and has done a wonderful job of setting the example for all of her family. Your parents did a great job with their family and in turn, you have done a wonderful job with your family. It is wonderful to see that all of you are very close knit! It is almost impossible to see any pictures of important events without seeing 4 generations of your family together. Many blessings to all of you! Linda
So true Linda - and we are very lucky to still have so many great grandparents alive. Mum is marvellous - we have just come home from being on Op Shop for our church (voluntary like St Vincent's) and she is a bit tired, but she does well. Love Chris
Thanks always for your kind words.
Chris I am thinking of you and your family and how a sad happening still can turn into a beautiful memory. I am glad the weather was bright and cheerful. Thank you for sharing your pictures. Love Angie
Thanks Angie - I can't thank God enough for the wonderful day on Easter Sunday it was just glorious. Love Chris
What a wonderful time to honor your Dad. It is so good that you were able to fulfill his wishes. Our parents may leave us physically but, they are always with us in heart. My dad has been gone for 21 yrs. and there is not a day that I dont miss him. God Bless you .
Thanks Erma - you are right they will always live in the hearts of the ones who are left behind. Love and blessings Chris
Chris, Thanks for sharing! what a wonderful place looking out to sea (why wouldn't you want to be there). Glad you had a nice day! Hope your easter was just as nice. Hugs Sally
Thanks Sally, yes it's a beautiful spot there on the golf course. Our Easter was just gorgeous, thanks for asking. Hope yours was too. Love Chris
Chris thanks for your lovely story it was /is a nice way to end my day.Glad everything went well !!!Hugs Carolyn
So glad you enjoyed my story. I'm so glad it all went off without a hitch so to speak. It all went too quickly though - but as my sister said when she was scattering Dad's ashes - "I hope your traits will come to the fore in one of your great grandchildren" - nice sentiments I thought! Love Chris
What a wonderful Easter you had with your family.....thanks for sharing your day with us....I really enjoyed reading your post.
Thanks Kali - yes I thought it was such an appropriate day to do this. Just so glad most of us could get there. Love Chris
What a beautiful tribute. Thank you for sharing your memories, it brings some of ours to the forefront, also. It was a gorgeous day and God was good letting you know your Dad was giving his approval. I'm so happy you have beautiful memories to carry in your heart.;)
Jerrilyn
Thanks Jerrilyn - I really felt as though he was watching us - it's a surreal feeling knowing you are holding someone in your hands when you hold their ashes. Love Chris
7. Ben holding Dad's ashes on the post he used to rest himself on and count the ships going by. You can see our reflections just above the box on the right hand side!
How poignant/touching Chris. Thanks for sharing this & the beautiful pictures. What a view, believe I could stand there & gaze for hrs./Lillian
Thanks Lillian - yes it was a bit moving. You are right about the view it's breathtaking on a clear day. Love Chris
I know that it had to be a touching time for the family. Thanks for sharing the pictures and the information - such a special way to close out the Easter Sunday.
Thanks Beth - I'm so glad we could do it and to top it off on Easter Day. Love Chris
1. Julie my sister, Mum holding Dad's ashes, Trevor with Cooper, Dana, Ben and Me.
2. Same as above but with Ben's wife Naomi standing next to Ben (he is holding his Puppa's ashes).
3. Julie spreading Dad's ashes.
4. Me spreading Dad's ashes.
5. Mum spreading Dad's ashes.
6. Cooper - Ben and Naomi's son. Dad loved Cooper so much.
It was quite windy up on the 11th tee as yo can see it looks out to the Tasman Sea. We even had some ships in the background. Cooper loved just running all over the golf course and kept picking up the markers where the golfers are to hit off from. We of course put them all back in the right place. As you can see from the first picture the sun was starting to set.
Chris, I am so happy for you - that you were able to gather together to scattered your Dad's ashes - at the places he loved. What a great tribute.
We were all happy and laughing as Dad woul have wanted us to. We keep his memory alive - Ben loved his Puppa and of course little Cooper doesn't remember him - but we reckon he has a LOT OF RON in him. Just look at that face! He is full of mischief and Dad (Ron) loved that about him. Love chris
Chris, all I can say without crying is my prayers are you with and your family.
Thanks DeVon - I appreciate your prayers. It was good to finally be able to do this. It was very much a spur of the moment thing and that's why Amy wasn't there. We only organised it on Thursday. Love Chris
Chris, My parents have their ashes scattered here and in North Qld. I scattered some of Mum and Dad over the back yard (luckily the house is on the corner) of the house that Dad built in 1947 and some at his favorite fishing spot and his fathers grave in Cairns. Mum on her parents grave in the Atherton Tablelands and naturally some in their garden in Hove.
Hi Lyn, I'm glad you got to do that for your parents. I loved Cairns, went there years ago with Dana as a graduation present for her for getting her University degree. Love Chris
Hi Chris. This is something we still need to do for my mother but we are waiting until her her home sells. Your comments sound very moving and I look forward to seeing your photos. You are excellent at taking photos and sharing them with us.
Take care and keep enjoying your grandchildren
Thanks Caroline, I've uploaded the photos and hope you will get to see them. We are having Ben and Cooper over here today for lunch. Dana and Jason are going out to an ANZAC day function and the other grandparents have the children. Mum and Julie are coming over here too for lunch. It's a big day here in Australia. Love Chris
Thanks for the lovely pictures Chris. Enjoy your day - Monday with your Mum and sister, son and grandson
