the NSW/Victoria border at their home where they have Ultra lite flying planes.

It's been an absolutely glorious Easter Sunday here and it was just beautiful out on the Belmont Golf course. We were given permission to scatter Dad's ashes today at 4.15 - as this was the time most suited - most of the golfers had finished their play for the day.

We got on 3 electric golf carts and trundled off to the 11th tee. When we arrived there I read from the Australian Prayer book the Interment of Ashes and then each one of us proceeded to scatter Dad's ashes. He used to lean against this post and look out to sea and reminisce on his time with Port Stanvac Marine and tell anyone he was playing with all about his life as a seaman. He would always count how many ships were waiting to go into the Port of Newcastle.

I'm going to add some of the pictures we took. It was a poignant moment in time and unfortunately as Amy, Steve and Ophelie are away on holidays they weren't there. I'll take Amy up some other time. Whilst Julie is here Mum said she will spread some of Dad's ashes around their garden too. When we go home to Adelaide later this year we will take the rest with us and scatter him at his favourite places.

I had a really really eerie experience as I was downloading the pictures from this afternoon - I had the radio on and Dad's favourite song Blue Spanish Eyes came on - we had that song at his funeral. It gave me goosebumps. Dad is certainly watching over me.

I couldn't think of a better day than Easter Sunday to scatter Dad's ashes and am so thankful to the Golf club for allowing us to do this in memory of him.

Thanks for listening to me chatter. Love and blessings to each and everyone of you Cuties. Happy Easter! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed.

Sad but very touching moments that will live in your hearts and minds forever. This looks like it would have been a perfect day and everyone seems to be participating in setting your Dad's spirits free to go join nature at its finest. It is a beautiful spot and since it was a favorite of your Dads' I think all of you had the right idea. It is wonderful to see that your Mom has done so well and is always smiling and feeling good about herself. It sometimes is very hard to adapt after so many years together. You and your family are a very close and loving family and it shows in all that you say and do. Your Mom is very lucky to have children that turned out so well and raised their children to do the same. May the Lord bless all of you in everything you do! You give your Mom a hug and tell her that a total stranger all the way from Atlanta, Ga. thinks she the the epitome of grace, love and dignity and has done a wonderful job of setting the example for all of her family. Your parents did a great job with their family and in turn, you have done a wonderful job with your family. It is wonderful to see that all of you are very close knit! It is almost impossible to see any pictures of important events without seeing 4 generations of your family together. Many blessings to all of you! Linda

So true Linda - and we are very lucky to still have so many great grandparents alive. Mum is marvellous - we have just come home from being on Op Shop for our church (voluntary like St Vincent's) and she is a bit tired, but she does well. Love Chris

Thanks always for your kind words.

So glad you enjoyed my story. I'm so glad it all went off without a hitch so to speak. It all went too quickly though - but as my sister said when she was scattering Dad's ashes - "I hope your traits will come to the fore in one of your great grandchildren" - nice sentiments I thought! Love Chris

It was quite windy up on the 11th tee as yo can see it looks out to the Tasman Sea. We even had some ships in the background. Cooper loved just running all over the golf course and kept picking up the markers where the golfers are to hit off from. We of course put them all back in the right place. As you can see from the first picture the sun was starting to set.

We were all happy and laughing as Dad woul have wanted us to. We keep his memory alive - Ben loved his Puppa and of course little Cooper doesn't remember him - but we reckon he has a LOT OF RON in him. Just look at that face! He is full of mischief and Dad (Ron) loved that about him. Love chris

Thanks DeVon - I appreciate your prayers. It was good to finally be able to do this. It was very much a spur of the moment thing and that's why Amy wasn't there. We only organised it on Thursday. Love Chris

Chris, My parents have their ashes scattered here and in North Qld. I scattered some of Mum and Dad over the back yard (luckily the house is on the corner) of the house that Dad built in 1947 and some at his favorite fishing spot and his fathers grave in Cairns. Mum on her parents grave in the Atherton Tablelands and naturally some in their garden in Hove.

Hi Lyn, I'm glad you got to do that for your parents. I loved Cairns, went there years ago with Dana as a graduation present for her for getting her University degree. Love Chris
