someone going back and pulling them out? Will that cause them to re-appear in with the new post? My computer moves so slow.... and when I click on one of those pages, it takes it forever to get back to the right place in time. Needless to say.. I am all out of sorts right now! I was trying to get through for right now so I could go to town. I think I just need to walk away and leave this machine right now!!!

Has anyone sent a private message to this/those persons who is/are leaving a thank you at each OLD post they are reading and explaining the confusion it is creating????

Hi Marge - the worst case for me was when a member of a Cutie had died. Several months later it was commented on which was so embarrassing as it must have been painful for the person to be reminded again of their loss. I just wish that people would look at the date of the original posting. Sarah.

mranderson by mranderson 16 Apr 2011

Sarah, some of these new Cuties are still learning how the site works. They will not know unless someone tactfully informs them not to leave comments regarding old posts or freebies Marg.

I understand totally what you are all saying, Gateway problems, time constrainsts, etc etc.
But the reason these posts reappeared is because someone left a (hopefully) positive message of thanks to the digitizer.
And isnt that what the comment section is for after all?
When I came here first I didnt understand the family/friend aspect to the website and downloaded a good few free designs....and as I became familier with everyone and "felt the lovin", began to feel guilty as if I had nearly stolen the designs because I didnt leave comments.
I dont think we should give out about someone leaving comments for digitizers, unfortunately the down side to it is that the post is returned to the top.
We just have to accept that as part of our beloved website as we cannot do anything to change it, only the owners can.
I know its a pain for people that have a slower connection to wait on pages to load only to see designs they already have and for people that dont have to much time to trawl through the pages, but at the end of the day, these designs are offered free by digitizers, and I personally dont mind having to wait to find them....how many of us go on websites where you have to "Hunt" for design...thats time consuming to!
In regard to the flowers, I to see certain people that answer every single post and post some real silly questions and I to think its just to get flowers, and in my opinion, I just leave them off! If thats what they wanna do, so be it, they are not earning my respect and I wont let them get me down. I also see some people that have been here for years that dont leave one single flower for some people... works both ways I suppose!
So to finish (a lobger than anticapated reply!) ... why not let us welcome newbies and their comments and be happy for them that they have found this wonderful site, as they probably dont even know that they have upset anyone.
Have a great day everyone !!!
Marley

I think we are mixing up two things by now: the freebie postings and the free designs in DbC.
It would be great if the freebie postings could be taken off after a couple of days (most of them are temporary any way).
And it would be nice if all freebie postings happened under the freebie tab. But every request seems to fall on deaf ears!

marleymoo by marleymoo 16 Apr 2011

ah I see now what is being said!!! Hope your well today Mops!

I have been thru the whole list of DBC and only picked the ones I know I will use at present. If I think there is one I may use at at later stage I will go back and look for it. I didn't realise that it is problem but usually i give a flower but no comment so hopefull it doesn't pop up front again. Never thought about it but guess if it's a problem am now aware will be careful. Apologies if I did anything wrong and flowers for all. Elizabeth

i'm with lindalee757 about being selective of the posts i read. i think it is good that gerry, sewmom & sissi put some of the "for newbie cuties" old sites. but often there's the same site listed 3 times on 1 pageby 3 different people. i'm lucky that i really don't have time restrictions on internet or personal time but i can see why that could peeve a cutie! i might not have tons of flowers but i REALLY enjoy here & have learned so much from all ya'll. ***flowers***everyone!

Well Linda, I see you got your answer.
This is why I click on the flower when it is 1st posted and I have read it/looked at it. So when ever it comes up again I can see the colour of the flower and I just skip it. I do this for projects, community and freedies. I only click on the "Designs by Cuties" if I have downloaded the design. Hugs Yvonne

This is exactly what I do Yvonne. If you have given them a flower you know you have read it because of the color of the flower/Lillian

If you leave a flower it stays on the page you found it, however if you express you like or ask for another format or size it pops to the top, no matter how old it is. Usually it doesn't stay there long though. I have always given flowers for the ones I down load. And after using them then leave a comment on how it comes out. I thought thats what the comments where for. I really appreciate the talent of our digitizers and wish I understood my program enough to digitize my own stuff and share it with others. Just to share it, not to gain flowers.

I am with iofrog. It has gotten to the point that I am not sure Ieven want to check the freebies section anymore. So many of them are just after flowers not to share info.

I have a pet peeve with the freebie postings. People have been requested to put multiple links in one posting. Not happening. People do not take the time to look back a few pages to see if something has already been posted. There are times that the same thing is on 3 times. Or they just say-new to me-instead of what and where it is. Sigh. There are 3 super people giving us daily lists of places to check which is a real time saver-love you guys.

lindalee757 by lindalee757 14 Apr 2011

I agree too and I do love the lists that our 3 ladies in know have for us daily too. Not saying I don't check out some of the others, but I am very selective anymore-there have been so many "new to me" that you have jump thru hoops to look at or join a group to sneak a peek-forgot that.
Another pet peeve-new folks coming in saying they missed something on cute emb. or amazing and wanting voting to get them back up-I'm sorry- but that is why I have subscriptions to these-so I don't have to pester everyone to vote to bring things back up that I missed- If cute alpha. ever does the subscription I would get that one too.....sorry-I do go on, don't I lol.

sewist1 by sewist1 15 Apr 2011

The 'found a new site' posts have been rather annoying lately as when you click through you find it is an old well known site which has been posted many times. Some days it takes forever to click back to where you were.

by gerryvb 14 Apr 2011

know what you mean. The site is now very slow for me at the moment and it's frustrating you think it's a new posting > have to wait a time till it opens > and when it's open it is a very old posting that pushes away the newer posts ! and it comes back on top because somebody placed a comment to it :(

This happened to me awhile back. But it was in General posts. I was reading the new posts and clicked to go to the next page and as I was reading I glanced up and the date was 2008! I thought what is going on? I scroll down and the number of pages went from page 1 only to page 22!

Because the pages are listed in advance of only four pages at a time. I couldn't even have clicked on the wrong date. I had answered some posts in that time frame! I have no idea what happened! Very strange!

When I clicked on page 1 again it fixed the number of pages. 1 to 2719 pages.
This was right after Miss Veronika was having problems with the site.

I know what you mean Linda-I asked the same thing awhile back-I think it was something that someone had pulled up from 2008-it started a whole new run. I don't think some people look at the date. It can really get confusing sometimes.
Hope you day gets better for you after you go to town. ~linda~ oh
P.s.-You know what else I think is happening. Now that some people have figured out this flower thing-posting questions and comments adds them up-they just go nuts posting everything and anything-and these are not just people that JUST joined the site-there is one in particular that I have noticed is just being rediculous in all her posting-she even goes to the extent of submitting a question or comment 2 or 3 times-sometimes just wording it a little different-to get everyone to send comments & flowers back to her.-

This flower thing is really starting to annoy me. I come here to visit with my embroidery friends and to learn! Would some still come if their flowers were taken away? I'm starting to think not. Carol

lindalee757 by lindalee757 14 Apr 2011

I hear ya Carol-I was just thinking that last week-mean or sad as it is to say-I have actually gotten to the point that there are some people that I absolutely refuse to even acknowledge-for anything they put up-it reminds me of that annoying kid at school that would always jumped up and down with their hands in the air saying oooo pick me, pick me-
give me a break-lets get back to the friendly visits and talent and quit with the lets see who can post the most and top the "flowers" chart. By the way-I am sending one your way just because ~smiles~ linda

lflanders by lflanders 15 Apr 2011

Could I ask for patience instead??? heehee Or maybe that some of the cuties would stick with posting multiple designs all at once instead of posting one at a time. If you do not have but one, okay but if you have several it would be very considerate to post them all together! I get kicked off of here enough as it is with the gateway thingy! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! It would make it easier than opening several different post and all of them slow because of the traffic online!!!! That way we could all have more time to sew the designs after we collect them.

When I checked out the freebies as anewbies I started at the back and thought if I downloaded something I ws expected to say thank you. Later I decided I would wait until I used the design so I could commnet on how well it worked for me. It never dawned on me it would be a porblem and I'm sure it didn't to the people who commented. I now just give a flower to the ones I downloaded so I know what I have already. And looks like I will privately PM the digitizes if I have questions or requests on older designs.

mops by mops 15 Apr 2011

A comment AFTER stitching it is appreciated more than thank you when downloading. It's nice to know it is actually used, not just collected! Moreover, I usually test in one of the 3 formats my different machines use (vip or hus, pes and jef) and trust the other formats are just as good (or bad), but it is nice to know for sure.

There is a great many of them pulled out from 2009. I wonder if a new Cutie found them and did not realize they were old post? It sure has thrown me off a very tight schedule today! I do not usually get in a hurry but there happens to be several things I need to take care of today. I am normally real patient..just not today! Thanks

airyfairy by airyfairy 16 Apr 2011

I am sure that is exactly what happens. I wish that the Cuties would look at the date that it was originally posted.
