Looks like u have plenty of answers letvia. The Jacobean Era is one of my faves where designs are concerned, their simplicity, yet intricacy & colors are so beautiful. *

Hi letvia, jacobean refers to an era of English rein of James I back in the 17th century like epic states. Embroidery then was a very popular style of crewl(yarn)embroidery designs with scrolls and floral patterns. It is somewhat whimsical to me.
very nice and ornate like ruthie said. You can spot it right away. Hope this helps...a flower for you!

Jacobean Designs
Beautiful heirloom-like designs are inspired by an English embroidery style popularized during the reign of the Stuarts, particularly James I ("Jacobean" deriving from Jacobus, the Latin form for James). Wealthy women of the 17th century, indulging in the art of embroidery, developed a variety of stitches for making this heavily textured style with krul (wool) yarns on heavy linen. Their designs, distinctly oriental in character, show the influence of the East India Company was having on English society.

It is the name of the sort of design it is, more than anything else. Just do a search on the name, in your dictionary or on the web. HaHa. A flower for you. Loretta

Thank you Loretta, I know it is the name of some kind of designs, maybe I didn't ask correctly, I just want to say why that kind of design has that name. And is easier and fun to ask here instead of look at the dictionary. Jajaja. Flower and XoXo

clawton beat me to it, and I don't know what page she responded to. Jacobean does refer to a period of history and they were noted for colorful needlework. jrob had a very good explanation. maybe we can find it.
