Tsunami disaster for up to a year. Does anyone know who we should be contacting? Everything is for money and volunteers. We are finding nothing for the people leaving the country needing places to stay while they come to grips with what as happened and rebuild their lives. I myself would want to get to safety and away from there and I am sure there are people there who feel this way. If they can get here,we would take in a small family or elderly couple. We live on a small hobbie farm with 5 acres. I raise chickens, have a vegetable garden which is always growing (lol) and grow fruit trees, bushes, and plants. And help connecting me to the right people would be apprieciated. I have been surfing the web and have even contacted some host home sights for students, but none have anything or know where to direct me, I have contacted CNN and only got an e-mail that said they recieved my e-mail and could not respond to e-mails. Maybe someone from Japan may read this and know of the orginization I need to contact, or someone fron such an orginization itself. And suggestions or ideas are welcome. As I have heard very little about the Hawaii disaster, I don't know if there is a need from that area. If there is this offer stands for them as well. Thanks for any help you cutes can offer.

This is such a beautiful gesture Sewfrenzie! But I think it would be difficult for people to leave Japan and try to re-build their lives outside the country. I also don't know what is going to happen to children that lost their parents, probably they will go for adoption or foster family. Please try to contact International Red Cross, they also have office in Japan, and I'm sure they will have an answer for you. Love and blessings, Yoriko

After all the disasters that have happened in Australia we should know all about it. I would also recommend the INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS, any Christian organisation that has affiliations with Japan, The Church Army, any association that helps people out like Community Aid Abroad. I don't think CAA has affiliations with Japan though. There would have to be some sort of association with Compassion for the World too.

Good luck and I think what you are doing is wonderful. What an absolutely selfless act.

"On the last day, Jesus will say to those on His right hand, "Come, enter the Kingdom. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me." Then Jesus will turn to those on His left hand and say, "Depart from me because I was hungry and you did not feed me, I was thirsty and you did not give me to drink, I was sick and you did not visit me." These will ask Him, "When did we see You hungry, or thirsty or sick and did not come to Your help?" And Jesus will answer them, "Whatever you neglected to do unto one of these least of these, you neglected to do unto Me!" Matthew 25:41-46

Love and blessings Chris

It is a Christian organisation in the U.S that helps all over the world when there is a need. They have a mobil hospital that they take to all parts of the world. It is in Virginia.

I am not sure, but the army search and rescue teams from New York and another state are over there now....It was posted on a site I visited last night...perhaps going through the Army might also help you find a place to start...also....CONTACT YORIKO...she has family contacts over there

How about Social Services in your county?

We have Austrian foreign exchange students in our area right now which make me wonder if your local high school might have and idea.

I contacted several exchange student orginazations and got the same answer from them all. They only help put people together with a student to host not families. That was one of my reasons for posting here. Everyone seems to be so helpful, and all it takes is one person hearing about something to pass on the information. Thanks everyone!!

Contact the Red Cross there in your state...think they will be your best option. Thank you for being so considerate of others, that you are willing to open your home to the those in dire need.

I agree with baydreamer. Contact a church denomination with affliations in Japan. They would know of families in their areas needing assistance. I know during the Hurricane Katrina aftermath the Compassionate Ministries department of our church help to place families around the country. My brother-in-law took in a family in Iowa.

Contact the Red Cross,or a church with a affiliation with Japan , seems to be a good place to start.
