few people who enjoy machine embroidery. Now I watch the news with new vigor. I find myself praying for people all around the world and worry when the weather gets too hot again in South Africa, or the earth quakes in New Zealand. We have a special sharing friendship, and now I realize how much we share, how we love our children, our sisters and mothers all the same all over the world. We all have deadlines we put on ourselves, and rejoice with each other in the birth of grandchildren. I am so impressed that so many attempt to write in English when it is not their native language. If you didn't try, I would never get to have you in my life. I wish I could thank you in your languages, but I don't even know how to use your languages that well! Thank you for reaching out to us in English!

Love and hugs, Jan

Hello, I agree with everything told in this post. I was just talking about this, tonight with my husband. I am rather discreet and don't post everyday on Cute but I read everyday cutie's exchanges when I am at home and I can say it's also a very good way to improve my english !! Thank you to Miss Veronika and all of you around the world who make this forum live 24 h a day. A big hug from France ! Françoise

Jan your comments are delightful and apply to many of us. I go to a book club in my village and we had a message sent from a member who is in Australia at the moment. My thoughts instantly went to the AUS cuties here who Margaret will be near. The replies to your posting make wonderful reading so thanks so much for your comments in the first place

Sooo true - I`m living in Finland and I`m love to read posts from Cuties. It feels like the world is "closer" to me now - if you understand what I mean?! Sometimes it sooo difficult to write what i want to say AND it takes time, that`s why I post comments occasionally. English is my third language - this is a great place to learn more English -- every day...

I´m so happy to have found this Cute website. I´ve learn a lot of written English by reading what you cutes are saying here on this website. It´s about 50 years since I learn the English in the school and I have not used the language so much until now I got in to this Cute website. It´s not bothering me if I write something incorrect, I have my English Dictionary beside me and look up the word I will say what ever if it´s in the right grammar or not hehehehehe..........I know you understand me, is it not so???????
Have a nice embroidery year Cutes.
Sigrun from Iceland.

Ég er mjög ánægð með að hafa fundið þessa Cute vefsíðu. Ég hef lært mikið í að skrifa Ensku með því að lesa það sem þið cutes eruð að segja hér á þessari vefsíðu. Það eru um það bil 50 ár síðan ég lærði Ensku í skóla og ég hef ekki notað þetta tungumál mikið þar til núna, eftir að ég fór að vera á þessari vefsíðu. Það pirrar mig ekkert rosalega mikið þó ég skrifi eitthvað vitlaust, ég er með Enska orðabók mér við hlið og leita í henni þau orð sem ég er ekki alveg viss á hvernig á að skrifa, alveg sama hvort þau eru málfræðilega rétt eða ekki hehehehehe........Ég veit að þið skiljið mig, eða er það ekki???????
Eigið ánægjulegt útsaums ár.

Sigrun you have excellent English which I fully understand. I think we all enjoy the Cute website. I have never seen Icelandic written before, it looks a very complicated language. Happy sewing

Thank you, the people which are learnig Icelandic says that the grammar are the worst part of learnig, because it´s so difficult.

Ditto, Jan!! I find it so very interesting to learn about different cultures in other parts of the world, and especially, from someone that lives in a particular region that's a "sister" Cutie! Love is a universal language, and I believe we all
can decipher that!
As to Grand Lake being a wonderful place to live,
I would venture to say it is a bit of "heaven on earth"! I have never been there, but, after seeing the background of the lake and mountains in one of the photos of Ben, I decided to google it. Grand Lake is a beautiful place! The scenes of the snowy mountains are breathtaking. But, I dare say, the summers there would be most to my liking, as I am a "true Southerner" that prefers mild warmth or coldness in weather! I love snow, but only in a picture!! LOL

Jan, you have said it so well. I agree with you, I moved from NJ to PA when my hubby & I retired and knew no one at all, but I found Cuties & feel like I have a whole bunch of friends that I can talk to when I want to & I really enjoy reading what everyone has to say, even if it's not perfect English. I know I would never be able to do what they are doing. Had a hard time in HS with languages. Loved reading what you had to say. Arlene

Thank you sew, sew much for all your sweet comments. Do you know I go to Cuties first every day. Not to the designs - but here to the questions and answers! It's funny about the "old thing." I don't know how I got this old. I'm still the same person, only I'm full of experience and I have all these skills from all these things I've learned over the years. Young people do treat you differently - have you noticed it? Weird. I could teach circles around the young teachers. LOL, but I won't laugh at them, poor things :-) They don't even realize they have so much to learn. We old ladies know what we know and all we can do! I'm still learning lots of things. I can do all the technology stuff, and digital photography, video editing, embroidery design and digitizing. Life is good! At "our age" we don't have to worry about all those things the young ladies have to worry about - like tans and chasing guys, and keeping our houses nice and tidy, and keeping up with the Joneses! It's great to be 60! Even better to be retired. And it's great to be a Cutie and part of this group!

Jan,, we are so pleased that you were brought to us, too. We have so many things to be grateful for - in coming to be part of the CUTE family - do we not? I can always find time for each of as well. My heart swells when I think of all the joy and happiness - sorry and pain - kindeness, support, prayers, knowledge and hope that have come from the many members of this worldwide CUTE family that have come together through Veronika's wonderful website. Thank you to each of you - each and every day - I am blessed to have you in my life.

Marthie, I wish we could have a little bit of your hot. We have snow piled so high we can't look out the downstairs garden level windows. It's just snow everywhere. The trees are all wintergreen now, so there is no true green and it is dry. I NEED green! And I need the warm sun shining on my face! I need to see some green grass and smell the earth. I think I need to get out of here for a few days, don't you?? I'll mail you some snow!

Oh! Jan how wonderful of you to write this post. I too am so thankful to have met so many wonderful men and women on here. You are right we all want the same things. Love, Peace and Harmony!

And hey Marg, what's this about your daughters calling us "old women" we are all young at heart, aren't we? My girls think along the same lines as yours, I'm afraid LOL!!! big time. They reckon I'm always on here, maybe they're right - but at least I am learning lots of great and useful information for my "hobsession" as Trevor calls it! He he he!

Love you gals - love and blessings to all Chris

Chris, when you shared that wonderful picture of your dog, granddaughter and husband and daughter - you remember - that just made this site so homey. Like a glimpsp (how do you spell that word?) into your home one afternoon. It was sweet. I loved it!

Thanks Jan for your post. Like Marg, I also only speak English and I admire all the people who write to this site when English is not their first language. I also feel I have made a huge amount of 'friends' here. It makes our world such a small place. Hope Ben is well. Hugs Sarah.

Have you ever seen Marji's (???) post that contains the link to add your marker to Google Earth world map?

I think it was Marji, I may have to go look for it again myself, it would have been wonderful if everyone had participated in this.

I have spent many hours on Google Earth checking out the place of my many friends (sisters), here at Cute, whose addresses I DO know.

And then I look for local websites where they live and check out the real estate, weather, places of interest, etc. Not that I remember any of it (LOL) but at least I have looked at it and felt closer to my friends while doing so.

And yes, I agree, anyone who makes the effort to communicate in a different language to their own, is to be admired and commended for doing so.

Hugs n roses, Meganne

I'd love to add Grand Lake to the Google Earth map. It's a little bit of paradise. We only have about 200 people here in the winter and it grows to about 10,000 on the Fourth of July, when we have the best fireworks in Colorado for Independence Day -set off on the Lake that is nestle in the mountains, They echo all through the mountains and it takes people at least two hours to get out of town. We have moose in our yard, peaking in our windows.

Well Jan I only speak one language and that is English. Anyone on this site who has English as a second language is to be congratulated for their effort in communicating with us. One of my daughters says this site is "like facebook for old women!!!!!!!!!". LOL. My answer to that is that at least we all have the same thing in common, that is embroidery and we are not all old. I am glad you are enjoying it here. Love Marg from Australia.
