to everyone whom replied to my silly but needy question. I am overwhelmed but both the warmth and help in this room. I can honestly say I have never known anything like it.

Can we imagine, 'If everyone in real life was as warm and considerate as the folks in here, we would all live in a perfect world' May I thank everyone who gave me flowers also, so very kind. I have to add, by the time I am done pestering you all with endless questions, (silly ones to most of you I am sure) you will probably be lining up to take your flowers back! ~x~

Todays question is simple this. I live in an 'old' English country village, miles from everywhere. The nearest shop which sells anything to do with this hobby is miles away and sells very little. So I am having to resort to Ebay to buy what I need.

When I can prize my 3 year old Granddaughter (whom lives with me) from my neck, I try to create and complete all sorts of projects. Mosty the fabric I use is 100% cotton, Egyptian or cotton mix, mainly light to medium weight. So I am looking for stabiliser to suit. As I really do not want to wash my projects and loose the crispness I thought tearaway stabiliser would be preferably. (Am I correct in my thinking) If so would you kind cuties, take a look at this link and please tell me if this is suitable.

Thank you Suzanne. Most helpful. I just wonder as this is an American site, if it will be different to ours in the UK, this is why I was looking on EBay, plus I have to pay 'Import Tax' Vat and handling fees, this makes it soooooo expensive.

First of all welcome to Cute. Stabilizers are very much a personal thing. I only use a medium weight tearaway for almost everything except FSL. I usually use two layers - one in the hoop and the other 'floated' underneath. The number of stitches in a design also plays a huge part in stabilizing. Have fun with your order. *4U

tearway stabillizers are used for heavy fabric, not for med to light weight cotton. If you do not stabillize correctly the end result will not be nice. Read up on what type is use for what fabic.

Thank you for that. I have been using a washable one, but this means I have to wash my projects, which I do not really want to do. I have to say, I stitched out a basket of flowers last night with some lettering above it, using this washable stabiliser, but I was not happy with the end result as it had puckered in places. I made sure I hooped it correctly, smooth and not too tight. It may be as you say dependant on the stitch count, but I have no idea how to address this. I am unable to alter designs in any way. I did DL EFP software, but I just could not get it to work, once opened only a black window appeared and it would not allow me to do anything. I unistalled and DL again, but the same thing happened and they did not appear to be any help button. I was using a trail of 'Annthegran' Alphabet Xpress, which I found so simple to add text to any design, move it around etc etc. But there was only four fonts to chose from and these were always too big. I could shrink them, but then they become too compacked and sewed dreafully. I realise I should alter the density, but I just cannot get my head round how to do it. I am just lost, when it comes to altering designs.
I have a question about what format apart from 'Pes' to save it in, as it gave so many brother types. And I have no idea what v1 or v6 is. I am considering purchasing it, but wanted to try others prior to doing this. So far all I have tried are far to complicated for me. I must be so stupid and feel usless when I read what all you clever folk do. At present I am just using designs which fir directly in my hoop and having to make do.

Now I am so confused as to what stabiliser to buy. Hmmmmm

Looks like a real bargain to me. Nice width for most hoops and great value for money!
