Dumb question I know but--what is an "endless border"? Do you keep repositioning in hoop to the length you want.

You got your answers. There is also an endless embroidery hoop, but I am not certain what machines it will fit. I got mine from the Viking store in Joann's, I have used it a couple times, and like the results - trying to get the courage to try a set of sheets.

First time I've heard of the endless embroidery hoop. I will look into it. But then I am learning so much from everyone my brain is on overload. Thanks :)

It's not a dumb question, after all how can a border be "endless"! But you got your answer anyway. We all asked questions at first and sometimes still, because, you can't know what you don't know.;)

As ruthie said, not a dumb question - why not ask it - rather than not know. Hehehe! Can't top what she said - I do understand your hesitation - but believe me - if you want something that is pretty - you will at least attemt it - what you got to loose - a piece of material - some thread - stabilzer and your time - that is all and you will know - if it is for you or not - but you could have something really pretty. Does your local dealer have classes - check into that and ask them to have a class on endless boarders. *4U

Yes they have classes all the time but I work. Most of the classes I want to take are during the week. They have to have the classes when the instructors can come. I did take off one day and go to a class but can't do that much. I just keep checking on their classes and hope I see one I like. Some of the classes I am interested in, my machine will not do (like 3D embroidery). As far as materials to play with I'm not lacking in that department because I save all my scraps from sewing. Time is more what I'm lacking, as we all are. :) I do appreciate this site. I have learned so much. I do not know anyone in my area that does machine embroidery. Thank you for all your advise, tips, and most of all encouragement.

I sure can understand your lack of time, why can't your machine do anything 3D? 3D is not any different than any other embroidery, it is in the after embroidery that you get the 3D, isn't it?

I do not see why it can't either. I just downloaded some 3D patterns tonight and I am going to try it. What have I got to loose!

Not a dumb question dkjack, and you already knew the answer, smart girl. You stitch the first session, then *carefully* reposition your fabric in the hoop, very carefully aligning the previous design using a template of the design that you can print out. It's a little bit tricky, but can be fun to do. Hugs and flowers to you sweetie.

Thank you. Not sure I'm ready for that yet but found a pattern I liked and it said "endless border".

dkjack, depending on the pattern, you might be able to stitch it leaving a small gap between each one, say, between 2cm and 5cm, or more if you want, this way you won't have to line-up perfectly, and no-one will notice if there is a slight discrepancy in the distance between the placements. Try it and see, good luck, hugs and flowers.
