What it is doing is opening Embird and then all you do is save it from there. Pick File - Save as - pick your formnat and then save to your desired location. I get a similar action when I download pes files, but mine wants to go open Palette and then I have to save from there. It's fine, you are just having to take an extra step. But you do get to see the design and that it is ok and downloads properly. Short answer is to just save it from Embird like you would any other design.
