months old. He was born with cancer behind the eye and endured months of chemotherapy and radiation. It eventually spread to his brain and tumours grew out of control there. The radiation burnt his skin and he was never free from pain from the day he was born. My brother and his wife have done so much good in his name - making people aware of childhood cancers and raising money to support families who are unable to pay hospital bills etc. They also run bone marrow donation awareness functions and have helped to make us aware of how many of these cancerous monsters are lurking out there.

As a family we are determined not to let his death be in vain. I promised I would not. On 8th February, please could I ask all Cuties to either:

Pray for children who are fighting monsters.
Pay a kindness forward In Declan's name.
Make a donation to a cancer-related organisation.

Thank you in advance. By doing this, our babies' suffering would not have been in vain. We believe he was an angel sent from above to make us aware of this disease in children so that we can help.

You will be helping me to fulfil a promise I made to him.

I will pray for the children and that a cure for cancer will be found. His short time here on earth should not been in vain. I am so sorry he had to suffer the whole time. He surely is an angel

I pray for all who are suffering this disease, but will try to remember to lift this family up on that day.

we will, thank you for posting this, if you see a lot of healthy children going on the streets, playing or going to school; we often forget there are a lot of children suffering in hospitals or at home. Or children who did not survive. and they must be remembered in prayers and in the things we can do. Thank you for reminding us!

Until we became personally affected by someone who had cancer, I never knew that children were born with it. There were and still are so many in the oncology wards. Some make it, others do not and some suffer terrible disabilities as a result of the measures taken to save them. One of the children, for example, has had to have both of his eyes removed. You are correct in saying that we often do not think of the children suffering when we are surrounded by healthy, lively children. May God Bless all of them.

My daughter's best friend is a laboratory researcher working on finding a cure for cancer. Through her and other researchers work at St Jude's Hospital there is constant funding to enable this work to continue. Prayers for all the families and patients in need of hope and courage.

This is a link to St Jude's web site if you want to have a look into what they do for their patients and family care.

Thank you Shirlene. We cannot all afford to donate cash, but every prayer is heard and every kindness is noted. Our angel would appreciate this. I hope you are keeping well and that Rick is on the mend. My thoughts are with you.

I have said a prayer for all the children suffering with cancer as well as asking for cures to be found.....this must have been a painful journey to go through....I know he is now in heaven free of pain and hope that this comforts you....may your brother and his wife continue in their quest for awareness and funds to help.....Gods blessing to you all.....Janet

Thank you Janet. It was and still is very difficult. I also know that he is in heaven and that the angels are taking good care of him. We will see him again. The fact that he is free of pain is a great comfort to us. I think that he has done more good in his 8 months than I have done in 50 years! Thank you for your prayers.
