the children only do the behaviors for the rewards. I always said, I do it because it makes them feel good. I made sure everyone got a sticker for something, even if it was for a smile. Now I know, who cares why they keep doing the good behaviors, if it makes them feel good on the inside, give the stickers! If a little on-line flower can make adult ladies feel good, why shouldn't little kids have stickers!

I keep coming back and rereading this. It floors me to think that anyone would not want to reward young children for anything good. Stickers are such a small thing, and a visible reminder for them. That's like the people who piled on homework in the elementary grades "because they would have that much in high school". ?? Always seemed so wrong to me. I would not want my child taught by such as those. I sprinkle flowers as I go, here, and lately, am filling in a lot of zeros for those who have taken the time to answer before me.

I love the way you think and I also believe that people like to be thanked even with small things like a little flower. Thank you to everyone for all of my flowers I love them!!!!!

It may sound kind of silly but I was thinking about how fast my garden has grown. Then I thought about how many I've given away and it reminded me of love. My Mom told me love is the one thing that grows larger the more you give it away...so too the flowers here on cute. The more I give the more I seem to get.....just wanted to share my thoughts.

I worked for a brief time, for an amusement park, where my daughter and her girl-friend would later work. The supervisors gave out cards with apecial appreciative notes on them, and they would check those that applied. It let the employees know that they were appreciated for their hustle, kindness, courtesy, etc. I saved my cards for years, as I'm sure most of the long term employees did.

I agree, most people like rewards. And if it rewards good behavior why not. There is enough negative stuff in the world and little flowers or stickers are good things.

Recognition of effort is a great way to get someone on the road to success and our tutoring business was run on 'stickers for effort'. We used to pride ourselves on a 100% success rate for the students and they produced excellent work, knowing that their efforts, correct or incorrect, beautiful or not but always their best, would be acknowledged and rewarded.

I like to thank anyone whose post helps me, and that's pretty much all the messages I read, by giving a flower.

Veronika knew what she was about when she created this particular little facility on her website. Look how successful she has been!!!!..... and look how much value is put onto their collections of the flowers by many of our members!!!!!

As they say- everything we ever really needed to know in life was learned in Kindergarten. The addiction never goes away--first stickers and now flowers. I give flowers to all just to let everyone know here that I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!

As a former kindergarten teacher, I remember the look on the faces of those getting rewarded with a sticker, or any insignificant little treat for not just behavior, but trying harder to accomplish a task. It was my means of encouragement, and ALL my students got that!

I love flowers, I love those smiles that we send to every one with flowers as we cannot see each another. they are not rewards.
These flowers are signs of love that we send, and it is so good to receive them, and to feel that we are a great family.
For the children why not stickers for rewards?

when kids go to the doctor they always get stickers, anyway I am glad that we are a "little older" and get or give as many stikers as we want. Hugs and flowers to you.

Jan, I think they are most fun - when they are given away - getting them is nice - but not nears as much fun as the giving. *4U

A flower for all of you!
My DH has started an online business and we have discussed our Cute flowers. He has come up with incentives for his site but since it is a business he's not giving flowers. He has ways to track who posts the most, who gets people to join, and a lot of other positive AND negative things. Then he can reward them with a "real" gift.
I'm pretty sure the flowers here were probably intended to track things and we just sort of latched on to them!
The counter on the community page hasn't worked since the site went down a few months ago but we just keep on giving those flowers :)

Actually, after a while the good behaviors become "habit" with the children, and you are right, who cares if they are doing it for the "rewards." Sometimes we all need a little incentive to get us going.
My youngest grandson's teacher hands out stickers for many things....good behavior, good grades, good attempts, whatever. I know how happy Andrew is everytime he gets his little reward, and it makes him want to do better everyday.

I'm going to be 61 on Feb 4, and I have lots of gray hair showing. Time to cover them up again. Two of my best friends are 86 and 94 and they have more energy than I do, they are the most interesting people I know and the most fun too :-)

here here!Bless you for making kids feel good. They need that. It makes them self confident about themselves and that carries through to their adulthood. I think some adults are obsessed about the flowers because they did not get them as a child. It makes them feel good and what is bad about that? Suzanne
