Welcome to "cute"
I wind my own bobbin thread. I have Elna embroidery machines.
I use the embroidery threads in the Bobbin if I am doing FSL (free standing lace) and ITH (in the hoop projects) I also use it if I am stitching a small size fonts onto T-shirts. For the other embroidery I use the white of black bobbin thread)
I see "Rwalden" Reva has left a PM message for you, she has the same machine as you.

Hope this helps.
Hugs Yvonne

Welcome to Cute! I have a Brother SE-350. Bobbin thread works best because it doesn't make the back bulky and is recommended except as others have said, when doing free standing lace. FSL is addictive so if you want something to start with before you get the chance to buy bobbin thread do some of that. As mentioned, stabilizer is necessary! You will use water soluble stabilizer (wss) with FSL and also on top of lots of things like towels where the threads can get lost in the nap. Other things need tear a way and some others cut a way and still others need iron on. You can gets lots of help on here from so many wonderful people and also a site that has lots of tutorials is www.embroiderylibrary.com so check it out too. Most of all, have fun!

I have the same machine. I'll help you in anyway I can. I'm sending you a private message with info on how to contact me. Bobbin thread is thinner. For most things I only use the white. For FSL you use the same thread on top and in bobbin. Welcome to cute!

Welcome to Cuties!!!! You are in the perfect place. like Ramona says, the bobbin thread is thinner than the regular sewing thread. The pre-wound thread has the perfect tension, that is my opinion, beside it takes a lot of your time. There are websites selling color pre-wound bobbin thread I have seen it but I do not remmeber the sites, just goggled. Welcome to this site. You said you are very new on this, remember stabilizer too.

Pre-filled bobbins contain thinner thread and when your doing an embroider that the back isn't going to show it works perfect. You can also buy the bobbin thread and wind your own. I only use the pre-filled bobbins. There are sites you can buy them by the box or for .50 or so from your dealer. The only colors I know it comes in is black and white. If you want to use the same color on the back, you just wind the color from your rayon spool. Maybe some other Cutie knows of some place to get more colors. I don't bother winding lots of bobbins as I use white on 98% of my designs and WELCOME TO CUTE!
