The fabric down or how do I do this? I have always wanted to try but don't know how its done. I know what I want to put it one, just not how to go about doing the actual applique itself. Thanks in advance!

I hope someone read this Qn so i do not have to create new topic.

I am stuck with the stabiliser issue and the applique available? like i think there's 2 types? one is whereby its an iron on stabiliser and the other is direct applique onto the clothes.

How do I do both of them? I saw this ...... i read the instruction but i cannot figure it out because it talks abt the right side of fabrics to the stabiliser then the other side is like for hooping?

I have never done applique before but i have lots of applique designs!

I dont know how to use this n if its neccessary? I cannot get spray adhensive at my country. thanks!

Thanks sewfrenzie! I love tutorials on blogs but often the pictures are poor and too small. I think sometimes mine might be too big!!

Good luck on your Sunflower challenge project. I have stitched very few applique designs, but this makes me want to join in on this challenge. I may get started back sewing in a few days. Tomorrow night I'm having a Pampered Chef Cooking Show here at my house so I've been busy with cleaning. I had rather be sewing! I want to try all the different kind of designs.

Diane, the way that the applique for the sunflower is set up:

1. you place your stabilizer and whatever you are stitching it on - in the hoop - you stitch the 1st & 2nd colors - this will stitch the leaves and stems of the flower

2. now stitch the 3rd color - this will be the placement line for your fabric - stop and take your hoop of the machine - don't take the project out of the hoop.

3. you lay your fabric that you want for the flower down - you stitch your 4th color which can be the same color as the placement line or your fabric - stop and take the hoop off the machine - cut around the outside edge of the fabric - getting as close as you can - without cutting the stitching line - get all little threads cut as close as you can - then put the hoop back in the machine.

4. stitch the 5th color - which is a placement line for your middle of the flower fabric - take the hoop out of the machine and place your fabric done and stitch the 6th color - take the hoop out of the machine and cut around the outside edges of the fabric - being very careful not to nip the other fabric or your stitching line of thread - put the hoop back in the macine.

5. stitch the 7th color and the middle of the flower - then stitch the 8th color which is the inside of the flower design.

6. stitch the 8th color and the outside of the flower - you are done - unless you have something else you are stitching around or with this project.

Have fun!

I love to do applique, first the machine will do the outline of the design,2nd, you put the fabric and the machine will put it in place after you cut the extra fabric and the machine do the rest.

Just now and then someone comes up with an idea to use the same design and come up with ideas for it. In projects you can see what some people have already done with the sunflower challenge. You don't win anything but praise and flowers, it's for fun.
