Just came home today with my first embroidery machine - husqvarna designer SE. Looking at all the really cool designes to download - what form do I save it in? This info seems to be missing.

Congratulations on your new machine.
Ideally you should download vp3, if not then vip, which holds more information than hus, which can still be used but is the format from the superseded HusqEmbroidery software. The current Husqvarna/Pfaff software 4D/5D uses vp3, but can read many other formats without any problem.
Your machine can read .SHV, .DHV, .VP3, .VIP, .HUS, .PEC, .PES, .XXX, .SEW, .JEF, .EXP, .10* and .DST and a couple of others. So you don't have to convert in your software, but can place those formats directly on your USB stick.
I think hyou could find this information in your manual under 'File Manager'.

I wish you a long and trouble free lifetime of pleasure with your new machine.

Well, found out yesterday that they did not give me all the disks for the computer software. Thus I could not open the designs that were loaded. Feeling better that it was not operator error!! They have to order me a disk!

Hello Nancy and WELCOME to CUTE! You will love it here, everyone is so helpful. I have the Husqvarna designer SE LE and I love mine. I usually download in the hus format but I read somewhere in the users guide that the vp3 was prefered because of colors. Our machines will read almost all formats or you can convert them to the one you want.
HAPPY STITCHING!!

Actually, The Designer SE will take any format except ART. I usually download in PES, VIP, VP3 or HUS. You can download in other formats as well such as SEW, JEF, EXP, PCS and a couple of others. I haven't tried any of the newer formats that may have come out in the last year or so. I just stick with the ones I know. I have the Designer SE and LOVE IT! I also have the 4D software. Thinking of upgrading at some point. Good luck and enjoy the Cutie community. If you got the software, you can convert to other formats.

Welcome to the best embroidery site on the net. You'll love coming here not only to make friends but to learn a lot about your new endeavor into embroidery. I see you've gotten your answer about the format you need to save in but they should have told you this at your dealer. Does your dealer offer you free lessons? If so take them until you become familiar with your machine....I know you are excited to get started and if you're not careful every thing in the house will end up with a design on it. Enjoy and Happy New Year!

If you got software with your Designer SE you can download any format and convert to what format your machine needs or will stitch out.

Happy Stitching!

Dear Nancy,

Welcome to this wonderful site. I have the Husqvarna SE too and I can also use VIP and VP3. If you have any questions just ask there are no silly questions, because someone might just need to know that one question that you ask.

This site is very addictive, you will be on here for hours. Just check out every TAB. On the left hand side of the page you can see a listing of TUTORIAL. Have a look at that because there are some helpful hints in it.

Anyway a big Aussie welcome from me. Love and blessings Chris, Newcastle, Australia.

I use WINRAR to change a format to suit my machine. Forget to mention that when I wrote this morning.

meganne by meganne 03 Jan 2011

Hmmm??? Don't you mean: you use WinRar to unzip zipped folders Chris???
:-)))

pennifold by pennifold 03 Jan 2011

Thanks Meg! Sorry Nancy I use WinRar to unzip the different formats. Love Chris

Welcome to the Cute Family, I see u have your answer. Tip when downloading free designs:- save them in folders by designer eg, CUTE - Amazing - Cute Alphabets - Adorable Applique - Sick etc. this way when someone asks where did you get that design from you will know. Best of Luck & Enjoy. *4u

Not the newer ones, vp3 if you can get it (not every website has it) or else vip.
