I do digitize little and with that being said am no authority. Sometime I believe it's a conversion issue or hooping/stabilizer problem. I have had the exact same thing happen to me and when I re did it, it was fine. Contact the digitizer and ask them what they think could be the cause ? Some times it's one of lifes little mysteries. I have sometimes the problem that the colors of the designs are crazy because I use jef and many digitizers work in pes. If you change pes into jef with embird you have to change all colors or the customer has the work with it :o( (See my tequila-ladies in embird before I changed the colors)
Maybe same problem? What's your format?

Just because you bought it doesn't mean that the person knows how to digitize it. I am learning there is a different standard when it comes to digitizers.

If this happened to me I'd try turning off my machine to reset it and try the design again (without flipping) and if the same thing happened, then I'd contact the digitiser including sending photos of my stitch out. Some digitisers only test their native format when test stitching (not saying that all digitisers do this) and perhaps during conversion to other formats something went wrong. If there is a problem with the design I'm sure the digitiser would like to know so that she/he may fix it before others also have problems. :) xXx

That does not make any sense to me. My first guess would be the hooping was different. I can't imagine why it would stitch better because you flipped it. Maybe another cute has come across something like this before.
