If you download the free 30 day trial of sewwhat you can merge the letters with ease and then save and use it on your machine. It is a relatively cheap program to edit all designs, change format, colours, size and curve.. you can join the yahoo group for advice on the program as well. I still use this program. Helen

I often think it looks a bit 'too much' if more than one letter of a fancy alpha is used, but it does depend what it's like. I use the template/grid for my hoop to line the lettering up as well as I can, if the word doesn't fit in one hooping.

I do both depending on my project. It's easier to line them up in my PE Design on my computer than to bring them to my machine and line them up there. PE Design has the option of showing the grid (lines going both directions). That is very useful for lining up designs. It also has the option of "snapping to grid" which will automatically line them up but I have found that it doesn't always work because of how the digitizer lined up their letters. It's better to shut off "snap to grid", magnify the design a little, then line them up.
You can take a pretty first letter and then line up smaller writing for the rest of the word, you can do stacked letters,or write sentences. There are so many fonts to choose from. You should figure out how to do it with your system, it will be worth it.

If you only have the option of bringing them to your computer then let us know what you are using and somebody should be able to give you some hints.

In PE Design also use drawing tool to draw a line with no region sew and no line sew, Then use the zoom to place the letters on. Snap to grid can be taken off to fine tune the spacing.
Happy writing!

I do not know how to line out more than one letter right now but I will learn on my way or stitch out single lettern and join them to a banner. I like to spell out words like ADVENT, SPRING, HAPPY ANYTHING, a.s.o. but I am just a beginner and learning quick but stiching slow. Hope you get a lot of answers.
