How often do you take your embroidery machine into the shop for a cleaning or check up? TIA.

Once a year for a check up and cleaning so far no problems...better knock on wood after saying that. I am aware that some of you don't have a dealer in your area and have to drive for hours just to get to the dealer. You need to check in your area to see if there is anyone that does machine repair not all techs work for dealer but are free lance. If you can't find one and your dealer is some distance away, call ahead and see if you can make an appointment with the tech and have your machine serviced that day while you shop or putter around so that you can take it back home. I know my dealer does this and yours might too if you only ask.

Thanks for taking time for me and my question. I will have to see if they can do it the same day. I would like that a lot. Thanks.

Usually twice a year. But if there are any problems, take more time

I'd take mine in for it's one year check up if I had anywhere around to take it. No dealer for me anywhere that I have found yet. Did find a guy who came and adjusted my bobbin tension but he didn't seem to know much about the embroidery machine.

Mine is overdue for a service, it is too big for me to put in the car myself and I can't bear to be without it. I have a pr620 I am waiting for the new model the pr1000 to come to Australia next year and it can get serviced then when I have a back up. lol.

Thanks for taking time to respond. You are much more serious about this hobby than me. LOL
I hope you enjoy the new model next year, that gives you something to look forward to.

The PR1000 is already in the UK and costs about £8000

It is not arriving here until about February next year, it will be $17,000 AUD and I have my name on one of the first ones to arrive.

It is not really a hobby for me,I actually have an embroidery business, if you can call something that makes very little money a business, hehehe, but I am quite serious about my embroidery.

The Bernina (mine's a 440 with embroidery module) gives you notice of the million stitches service. Shoew you when to oil your machine and when to take it in for service. Was also told you should clean and change your needle every project.

I take mine at the least once a year - more often if there is trouble and I can't figure it out. I do alot of the cleaning and maintainence of it - at home when I am able to. *4U
