I went with the Embird Basic (after I used it for the full 30 days to see if it was what I wanted). There are lots of people that use Embird and lots of tutorials out there to help to understand it better. It lets you resize, merge things, delete things, etc. Always test stitch a design that you resize - some up or down size better than others. My next purchase will be to get the module that uses True Type fonts on your computer to put lettering in your designs. There are other modules that let you do full digitizing too. Try whatever you are thinking about before you buy it.

its an amazing bit of software and so easy to use and the price is good too with free updates it will do all you need, I would not be without it, from removeing bits of designs i do not want to adding and mergine and re sizing and automatically adjusting the dencity, change colores. change threads and convert and save in almost every format.
don't take my word for it try it for free, fully working for thirty days and yes i mean fully working as you can also save to file.

Embird,,,in my humble opinion, the best on the market for the fairest price. It does a wonderful job of resizing, splitting, editing, Converting to and from several formats and much much more.
