I think a good quality thread is very important, there are many in the market, you should use bobbin thread, if you study the threads you will noticed that bobbin thread is not as thick as the regular thread , I like prewound bobbin thread, I think is just a matter of preferences, Welcome to this beautiful site!~~~

I have the 780D and I use bobbin thread (prewound with plastic sides) in the bobbin and polyester in the top (unless doing something that needs to be the same on the back then I use matching poly). My machine loves metroemb.com threads - and prewounds. I did try a few spools of metro before I bought their entire collection. You can also get 10 packs of bobbins if you want to that first too. I got 24 spools of Floriani with my machine - and I like it too.

Cherry, I have a Brother 1500D and always use the PolyX 40 which my dealer sells. However I got an excellent deal from Designs by Sick with their PolyX thread. It was 61 spools for about under 55.00. That is what I have been using. Check out most of your embroidery thread websites will have what you need. Your manual will tell you about your bobbin thread. If you are in the south, there is a place in NC that has been in thread business for over 50 yrs. Check out their website. They have excellent prices also.

I also have a different Brother machine and have found that there is a bobbin thread that is sort of cotton like and my machine HATES it. Make sure you use BOBBIN thread in the bobbin unless you are doing Free Standing Lace, then you need to use the same color thread top and bottom. Top thread I haven't had much problems with, as long as it is rayon, I have used Coats and Clark, Sulky, and I just bought a bunch of colors of ThreaDelight on ebay and it is working well too. I am hoping their bobbin thread works for the machine cause I bought some of it too. Good luck and just have fun! WELCOME to cute, you will find many helpful and kind people who care about you, not just for your embroidery but a shoulder to lean on at any time!

I have a different Brother and I love Sulky rayon. You need to use bobbin thread, not regular thread in the bobbin. Brothers are picky.

Hi there, and welcome! I have a pe770 machine since last Nov. I use the Brother threads and also Isacord and Coates (rayon). I have had no trouble with any threads so far. I have only used brother bobbin thread though. I hope this helps.

P.S. I just love this machine!!

sweetie, i don't have your machine, so I can't give you advise on it. I use bobbin thread which is 70 wt. One word of advise is not to buy large quantity of any brand until you have tested the thread on several projects. I guess my favorite thread is Robison Anton, but my machine will also stitch nicely with less expensive threads. Check out The Embroidery Store. Look at the poly X40. This thread is very reasonable. I has a nice sheen like the rayon. Also look at their metallic threads. I love them. Kay
