I use both, I start out with the duck billed and then onces it is trimmed close I go back to see if there are any places I need to trim closer.

When I was first doing embroidery applique - I found the extended 'bill' to be difficult - now - that I have used them for years - I really prefer using the extended 'bill' over the curved - but it comes down to perference of the person doing the work, as with most techniques.

I have the duck bill applique scissors and I never use them. They aren't as easy to work with as my curved blade scissors which are small and sharp.

I've used the "applique" scissors with the bill, and absolutely hate them. Clumsy. I have a small pair , probably embroidery scissors, with blades no more than 1 1/2" long. Very sharp, all you have to do is hold the material at an angle and they get in super close. Most of the time they glide along the seam, not needing to snip at all.

Check out the two different ghost applques, (one on the left and the one on the right)..big difference was in the trimming of the fabric before the final satin stitch sewed out..

I have the extended "bill" but I use my small regular scissors. They are easier for me...Happy CREATIONS ;D *2U

I use regular curved scissors or small regular scissors. They will both do a fine job. I do not have the bill scissors either. Just take your time when doing it and you will be fine. Suzanne
