I missed you tip and can't find it. Would you repeat it here? OR give me a pm. However, I'm sure others would like to hear it if they also missed it.

I drape the mat over my left arm,This allows the cuts that the blade made to open up a bit,Then I rub the fibers that are caught in the grooves with a cloth. This allows the cuts to close better.
Batting is the worst culprit.
I keep the mat flat on my cutting table and my +12 yrs mat looks brand New.

Congratulations! It is always a very good idea for good maintainence on all of our equipment but alot of us do not take the time often enough. My biggest problem is letting my Pekingese into my office/sewing room. She has very long hair and sheds. I was doing great keeping her out before my Bebe passed away but now I do not want to lose a single minute with her. I have to vacuum everyday, floors tables and machines(once over) just to make sure we are not leaving fur balls around the room, or even worse, loose hair. She is mostly white with a few patches of a very light golden color mixed in and it is not easy to see on the carpet or the machines/tables until she does leave a whole patch. This new little RAT looking Min-Pin I was soooo generously gifted with 2 days after Bebe left me has very short hair, brown, and does not seem to shed at all. I did not ask for this dog nor was I ready for another but my grand daughter left her husband and went back home to my DIL's and my son's and my DIL hates animals. They were going to make Brittney give it away and my son suggested that Brittney bring it to me, so she could see her when she wanted to. She has had Kiwi for 6 yrs and just gave her up. She does need her Mom to keep the 2 boys when she is in classes and when she works so I guess she felt like she had to do what her Mom wanted her to do. Her X to be kept the new dog(big) so the boys can see it as often as He comes to get them. My grand daughter has just gone back to school to be an RN and it is the first good thing she has done for herself in years. She has not made any grade lower than 90 so... so far so good! I do hope the load does not get too much for her with 2 sons, 2 and 4, a job and going to school. She is really going to need the money because her X(to be) is a dead beat immature no good! Britt is nearly 30 with mouths to feed. Granny and my son has agreed that she can stay there as long as she needs to but it is a bit crowded already and Gail's Mom is very sick and also stays there when she is in need of help. They put the boys bunk beds in the room that grandma's bed was in. My son and Gail's 2nd annive rsary is the 19th of next month and they have had somebody in the house with them almost all the time since they got married. He had his heart attack when they had only been married 6 months so it has been a very rocky start for them. They seem to get along very well and I know they love each other but I do not read minds and for that I am glad! Hugs, Linda

Good luck and well done for GD studies,It is so very hard with little children.
We do love our animals too. A pity they even have hair at all. Only one dog now the other 3 have passed on, all lived to age 17 + 18. still have to vacume every day though.
Hope everyone stays well!
I have had a fair share of resposibility.
with 5 kids, one has a mental disability .all grown-up now.
Now I have more time to play on my favourite sites.
Thank you for sharing and listening
