I've had a few friends ask if I could embroider their logos onto shirts, I'd love to help them out, I have PE Design (the digitizing software from Brother) and no idea where to start in learning to use it. I have seen a few sites that offer tutorials for a fee...but I'm not crazy about paying for a tutoria on how to use a program I may not even like. Does anyone know of any free tutorials for PE Design 7?

Thanks everyone. I found a really good one to get me started on windstar's website. Once I get a basic knowledge understanding the manual should become easier.

My suggestion was to search YouTube for tutorials. I found some on Artista software, so I bet someone has done some for PE Designs. At least it might get your courage up to open the manual and start learning.

I have pe 8 and don't know how to use it the dealer told me he would give me lessons so I am going to call him .
Lena Mae ask your dealer if you are using a trial version you can not save any thing I don't think.

Good luck to you!! Digitizing is indeed fun, and very creative, but the learning curve on the software itself can be kind of steep. If you taught yourself Photoshop, you can do the PE design. Does your Brother dealer where you purchased the software offer lessons? I got the Janome Digitizer Pro when I got my Janome 300E, and free software lessons came with the deal. Have a great time!! Hugs, Marji

No lessons, I got my machine from HSN and the software online. But I did find a dealer locally that has classes starting at $50/hr. I'm going to try to learn on my own first. I think I can, I think I can, I think I Can. :0)

I agree with bevgrift: your manual is the way to start, take it step by step and you learn to use the different tools your software offers. It's fun.

Tutorials don't offer much more than your manual. It's a matter of preferring seeing it done instead of reading and looking at the pictures. I prefer written text, but that's personal.

By the time you get to do something special you'll know how to use the different tools and can always ask here about the settings - someone may have done something similar and be able to explain.

But a logo is one of the last things you want to do: lettering in logo's is not for the faint-hearted.

I Have PE-Design and have taught myself from the MANUAL.If you start the book each example and step in the book will show you how .Very soon you will be able to digitize.
N.B. REMEMBER THE HELP BUTTON.
This help is exactly what is explained in the Manual. If you don't have a manual, download it from the Brother Site.
I promise it is not hard,
START NOW TODAY with STEP 1.
Loads of encouragement.

Thanks Bev. I have the manual and I guess you're right working through the steps will be the best way to learn. Have you tried the PE Design 8 yet?
