I will first go to church, then I plan to come home and cook ribs and pulled pork in my electric smoker. The smell of wood smoke will faintly permeate my house and remind me of my grandmother's house--sending me on a sentimental journey to when I was a kid growing up in Nebraska. Happy 4th everyone.

My husband preached then we went home to set up for the folks coming over to our house. We had about 30 come to eat with us. Thank goodness it was potluck, then did what clean-up had to be done and went to watch the fireworks. A long, but good day.

It was cloudy and raining most of the day. Hubby and I had a quiet morning. I repaired a shirt for my oldest daughter, and fitted a dress for her. Then since it was raining I read another book. Hubby then cooked burgers on the grill and we had a quiet dinner by ourselves this year. We opted no big celebrations, for we have so much coming up in the next few weeks with the wedding and luau. This was a first for us in 45 years!

Even though we don't celebrate the 4th of July.(because ours is Canada Day on the 1st.) We smoked ribs and sausage today. With potato salad and macaroni salad. We cooked enough to share with our kids. Spent an hour before eating, driving dinner to their houses so they could enjoy it. They didn't come to our house because they all have pools and the kids wanted to stay home and swim. Just as well, makes our dinner must more relaxing. HAHAHA! Hope you have a very safe and enjoyable 4th of July. Hugs Lynn

My 4th started last night as soon as it got dark. We went into Peachtree City and watched the beautiful display of fireworks. It was the 2 yr olds 1st time of seeing them and he was as much fun to watch as the fireworks. He was memerized! He was playing as hard as he could to stay awake with his older brother(4) and the rest of the family up until they started and then he crawled up in his mom's lap and was as quite as a church mouse. The 4th is Peachtree City's big celebration of the year.
This morning started with church and then over to my son's house to use his computer ( mine has been hacked and I am afraid to use my debit card until I am positive that the situation has been fixed.) When I left his house, I went by Kroger to pick up a few things and finally about 6:00 PM I got to the computer. It is awfully hot and muggy outside and I am glad to be home with my girls. I hope all of you had a very nice day and got to celebrate as you wanted or at least got to enjoy with family and friends. Please, all of you, do not forget the reason for celebration on the 4th!

Our day is almost over - just sitting around - waiting for it to get dark - lol. We had a great morning in church - had some lunch - will have some dinner as soon as I make it - no grilling for me, wished we had one to use, however. Might watch some fireworks, again tonight. Happy 4th!

my ribs have been soaking all night waiting for the grill. I have shucked the corn, put on the potato salad, picked the wild black berries for the muffins and put the watermelon in the refridge to cool. Now, waiting for the lightening bugs to show their stuff and the fireworks to begin. Hope everyone has a safe 4th of July.

I'm smoking pork ribs, I'm making pulled pork sandwiches, and I just threw some jalapeno sausage in the smoker. My house smells just like Grandma's, from the peach wood in the smoker. Too bad there were only about 30 people in church this morning. Everyone must be away for the holiday.
