Cuties, I am using top thread for bobbin thread, as the white bobbin thread shows a little through? Seems to be working OK, provided it is on a item that will not be washed? Going out, but will check when I get back, please tell me what you think!

I often use top thread in my bobbin but have noticed it takes more thread than it does when using the bobbin thread. I do believe the bobbin thread has more stretch in it. *

I use top thread in the bobbin and if i have a thread that keeps breaking i use it in the bobbin when i can to use it up or i use it a tacking thread in my sewing machine :) Ash

I wind a bobbin with matching embroidery thread for the bobbin, trying to remember as it winds that I don't need to wind the whole bobbin.

Bobbin thread is just a bit cheaper than top thread, but top thread works well, especially if you want to make a design reversible (in that case you'd have to change the bobbin as well as the top thread), and you can wash it.

Thanks Martine, Just wasn't sure if it will last if washed often, seeing that my bobbon thread seems so be stronger.

You could iron on a very light weight Vilene on the back to protect it. Depends of course on the article you are stitching it on. I usually do that on baby things like onesies to prevent itching.

Yes...and when you want to make a design reversible..just change the bobbin thread to match the top. Be careful NOT to unhoop when taking on and off machine

Yes you can use regular Embroidery Black thread as bobbin thread for your design.
It would be best to use it where you are using Black Top thread.
You can use other colors for the bobbin thread to match the colors when your top thread is different colors.
