I have the Magna Hoop, I used it in small designs because you lose a lot of embroidery field. Before I bought it I asked the company about this problem they told me you did not lose any embroidery field, well You see you can not believe every thing people say.

Another thing about the new Snap Hoop is that you can use any of the different types of stabilizers you would normally use for the fabric you choose and the number of stitches in your design.

The new one is the "snap hoop" made by the same company as the magna hoop but you don't lose embroidery field and the magnets are built into the hoop and really suppose to be strong and hold things. I agree $180 is a lot for a hoop but I have a bunch of trouble with my hands so I have one pre-ordered at my dealer for when they are released (have not yet been released) hoping it lives up to the video demonstrations.

Yes it is a Magna Hoop . I have one , I found it at Kens sewing center .com . I only had to pay 99.00 ( special after a Quilt show ) , I really don't like it that much and don't know if I would purchase it again. Nancy

just an idea
wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the sticky back magnet stuff that they sell and place it onto the bottom existing hoop. then make a strong card template of the top hoop and fix the magnets onto that in matching positions then you have the same effect.plus i have marked out my hoop edges to show guidelines both verticaly and horizontaly so i know exactly where the center of the fabric needs to go. i also never hoop the fabric but do a baste stitch that will go around the design onto the stabalizer and then lay the fabric on top and repeat the baste stitch

Hmmh, that's an interesting idea. I have some of the magnetic sheets, I might just have to give it a try! ~Thanks, Rita

If you compare the cost of the Snap Hoop to the cost of one your own regular hoops that you have for your machine in a similar size then you could figure out if the cost of the Snap Hoop is really out of line.

EastWitch2

Mega hoop, overrated and over priced..Works great in the advertisement. Must use cutway and only works in my large hoop.....I could have bought a ton of sticky back instead. Just my experience.

>> cough,choke,sputter <<
$180.00 plus shipping for a hoop???
I would have to go through a whole heck of a lot of either sticky back or basting stitches for that to pay for itself. I do not hoop anything I embroider.
I use sticky back either tear away or wss or I pin and do a basting stitch.

They have not come out yet but are suppose to be out in mid June.
Then they will come out for ones that fit the other brands of machines.

Thanks to all of you who answered my question. The dealer where I bought my babylock is getting me one, and she will beat the price on the web. I am hoping it's all that it says to be. I'll keep you posted.

I have the magna hoop & I have used it a lot. #1 problem is it makes your embroidery field smaller by about 1 inch all around. It worked well for me for doing repeat embroideries. Very thick towels do not work. Not sure I would buy it again but I do use it

I've seen the magna hoop in action, but I just stick with my tried and true hoops. The hoops that came with my machines work just fine so I have decided after talking with friends to stick with them and save my money for other things. Like fabric, stabilizer, marking pens, new thread. You get the idea.

Good Morning, I got the Mega Hoop on sale for 149.00 about a year ago....I used it once and its in the box. It holds blankets and towels..BUT ONLY with sticky stabilizer NOT on its own...It was a waste of money for me...I saved for it from my part time job, I wanted it so bad...My friend likes hers...But for me...save your money, wish I would have saved alittle longer, for the snap hoop, my hands are getting worst and I will really need that one soon lol...Hope this helps, but its only one opintion

At the price they're selling for I would be lucky to get the 5x7! It is tempting though for us that have trouble hooping.
