I'm so proud of you to be willing to so this. I'm one of those that holds on and on and on. Of course, my girls aren't married yet so I have reason to hold on but even when they do get married neither one will fit into it easily for various reasons so it would need altering.
Can you post pictures of the dress? It might help us get motivated with ideas.

I told my husband last night that I need to learn how to post photos. He said he would help me. Now I need to finish up 2 or 3 projects to have room for this one. Please be patient. And thanks for the input

When my daughter got married, we got out my dress. First it was too small for her (she said it must have drawn up! Yeah, laying a box for yrs will cause that! LOL) then we found several brown spots on it. I cut it up, made the ring pillow from the material, my Mom picked off the lace down the front & put it on my daughter's dress along with new pearls. THEN I made an angel Christmas orn. for each of my children. Then gave it to a lady to made a doll from...and she moved & took my material! Glad I had the orns & pillow!

I am not very good with the computer, but I realize I need to learn how to post photos. I am living in an area now where I have few to share my projects with.

It is so wonderful to use your dress, they only get worn once so that beautiful fabric goes to waste. My mother took hers apart and made a dedication dress for my child. So now it has been worn by my 2 girls, eventually it will be worn by theirs. Tone on tone is very classic.

Thanks for the advice. I know the dedication dress is beautiful. What a wonderful heirloom for the family.

Recently saw a Christmas tree skirt made from wedding dress, it was tone on tone, it was stunning..
I agree with others on the tone on tone, you can create a timeless classic treasure.

I would also go for tone on tone. Or you could use a few shades darker.
Some other suggestions;
What about a pillow for your bedroom,
frames for photo's, makeup purse.

What great suggestions. I have been trying to think of ways to use the fabric. I just hate wasting it

I also think tone on tone would be nice. That would be keeping with the typical wedding designs.

wow! you are brave!
I vote for the tone one tone--it's timeless. you don't want it to be dated or not match your room in the future.

Thanks for the advice. I love tone on tone but don't want to be boring.
