I might have lost months of designs. We took my computer to be checked because I couldn't even back it up... they said that it is the drive...

My heart goes out to you. I know what you mean. Just yesterday I went to open my computer and just a black screen then a repair window popped up. That didn't work so it asked my if I wanted it restored to an earlier date. I was fortunate. The computer has an auto repair that I didn't know it had. That was the longest hour of my life waiting to see if it could fix it or if I was going to have to take it in to be repaired. The sad part is I was just lazy...I have an external hard drive but it was in the other room. Today I am backing up everything.

So Sorry...Been there, done that too. Thought I was downloading to external hard drive but never checked it as I'd filled another one some time ago so therefore I knew how to use....right? As it turns out I had a faulty hard drive so when Dell wiped out everything on my computer I had lost everything. Starting over is not fun and believe me can be rather expensive too....

Sorry to hear about loosing yyour designs, I backup every week.

Even when you back up it is advisable to also re copy your back ups at least 2 times a year as disc's also die they say the general life span of a disk is 3-5-years I don't trust that.It is a throw away world we live in now and it seems alot to do but if you don't want to loose it don't trust sticks and external hard drives alone as they all faulter at some time.nothing lasts for ever.My mission this week end is to back up all .

I'm so sorry for you! My DH lost all this files last week too, due to a virus in his computer. I've been backing up files everyday now :)

i'm so sorry to hear that. I have been there too. I have lost many pictures etc. If you need any help looking up new or old files, i'm sure we can and will help you any way we can. Cuties are very sharing and kind... chin upstitchship

Thanx for posting, I forgot to back up last Sunday!!! I am so sorry for your loss. I went through the same thing with a flash drive that had all my alphabets on it. I lost them all, now I have 2 back ups! Judy.

dear stichship, Im so sorry for you! For backup I use a separate disc whiuch was quite cheap, but I do it only once a month. Thanks to you, I will now do it at least every sunday. Hope you soon will have a somputor going again! /Peggy

Thank you. I have external drives for my backups, but my computer quit recognizing them. We are still going to try to save what we can, if we can.
