was only the back of the head - but that sort of jar on someone that just had brain surgery - I was so scared - I almost threw up. It is now after 12 midnight and I am beat - we start again in the morning at 7:30 AM - so I best sleep - I might be staying in his room - a few nights out of the week - if I can sleep there - which I doubt - I am such a light sleeper. How scary. I'm praying for the both of you. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I'm a northern Utah gal too. I know how draining this is. I just spent the past 2 months playing nurse to my hubby as he recuperated from prostate cancer. Do take care of yourself.

Thinking of you and remeber what i said about looking after yourself as well....Maybe a reclining chair would be better for Rick to sit in with a U shaped pillow or make a triangle out of 3 pillows. We also use what we call a fall out or water (dont know why we call them water chairs as there is no water in them) chair which is like a big recliner on wheels, they are really good. That is scarry, and I can see why you would want to spend as much time with him as possible, but you need to take care of yourself first and then him. Hello Shirline, I am sorry that I am only replying now, but was short of broadband again. My hubby surprized me with some more.
I am so sorry that Rick had the fall, it just shows that a person must be on your toes all the time, You must be so tired, as you have had a real bad time.
You must also think of yourself, and there is nothing like nice peacefull sleep. I am praying for you and your family, and hope things will go just better for you from now on.

If you can't stay at night, maybe you could get a family member or close friend to stay all night. I know it would ease your mind to have someone with him. Another thing, sometimes the Drs. come so early in the morning that you miss their visit. I know everything will work out.

Dear Shirlene you poor thing you must be so shattered to hear such a thing has happened.I think in Rick's weak state the CNA should have had someone or something there to stop him form falling. I hope they took him straight down for a scan to check all is well. I do hope that was documented in his chart...and that Rick's doctors know about it. Why was he even allowed to sit ALONE in a rehab unit?? Maybe the CNA needs a refresher course in her JOB! AS ALWAYS you are in my thoughts and PRAYERS!! HUGS coming your way!!!

Dear Shirlene,
What can I say? You must be so upset to have this happen now. The fall probably happened around meal time, so maybe you could be there during the day. I've slept under cribs (on an air mattress) and in "sleep chairs" beside the bed, but it's difficult.
Wish I were there to help you out so you could get some rest yourself.
Of course I'll continue praying for you both, and will pray for the caregivers, too.

Well Shirlene I am still keeping you in my thoughts..

My, my, Shirlene, I hope the person who did that was reprimanded - I can't believe they would have let Rick be on his own so soon. I'm glad there is no major damage.

It's no fun sleeping in hospital. I asked Dana how she went last night - due to her blood transfusion - she said the nurses were coming in every 45 minutes to check on her - hence a very fitful night's sleep.

Dana is doing much better today, was allowed to get up and have a shower etc. and so I pray that Rick gains more stability and confidence each day as his body rejuvenates.
