I am seriously thinking of buying the Innovis 4000 now that the price has been

lowered. I have seen all the "fors", are
there any "againsts"? Would appreciate
any help in this matter.

Hi, i have the 1500D because i couldnt justify spending the extra for the 4000 to get a colour screen, usb and a few more designs onboard. I have been very very happy with my machine and can slow down the speed in the onscreen settings rather than a button on the machine if im doing a dense design or im not sure how the design will go... hehehe.
as far as ive found with the 1550D if you change the speed through the onscreen it will continuously stitch at that speed unless you change it or turn it off( not sure on the turn it off part) good luck... oh i hear the new model..can't remember the model now is far better if you can afford it ok :)...that will be my next one if and when i upgrade good luck Ash

Probably Jaycotts (somewhere up the north)
or BSK @ Bedford, I've had good service from them both in the past. So looking forward to moving, and doing some embroidery again, I am actually bored out of my skull, as all my stuff is packed!!

I have the Innovis 4500D and I love my machine....Your dealership makes alot of difference in the teck support...If you do not have a great support system....if there is a problem, then help is right there....Is there free classes with the machine...will they be there for you....do you get the respect and service you need.....do they give you a great warranty...
My machine has a problem (mainly me) and when i take it in, I have wonderful people who help me, check it out, and give me great advice....that is a very important aspect to have when purchasing a machine......I love the self threader, the variation of speed settings. the ease of using it....I bought the floor model and still got the full warranty that went with it.....Good luck in choosing....

I have the Innov-is 4000D and have no trouble at all with FSL. I use two layers of Vilene and things stitch out beautifully. The one thing that I don't like about my machine is that it always ties a knot at the beginning and end of each color embroidered. On a filled design or redwork it is not a problem. For FSL it is a real pain. I'm told that this feature cannot be turned off. So when doing FSL that has color changes, I have to hold the end of the thread so that it won't make a knot. If the newer model has a shut off feature for this knot tying, I'd definately go for it. Also, it is far better to buy from a dealer as close to where you live as possible. I purchased my machine on Ebay and although I saved $1500, I have to travel two and a half hours to get it serviced. I won't make that mistake again. Hope you find what you're looking for, at a great price. ****

I would check out the many other machines, I love the janome myself, on my 4 upgrade the 11000se. I can choose any of several speeds and it stitches at that speed. I would read all the blogs I could. If you have a sewing machine I would look into an embroidery only machine. That is what I wish I had done.

I've not had any problems with fsl, but the one thing that really bothers me is the length of the tails on the back--about 1", and if I don't trim them down after each thread change, they are apt to get all lumped up and very messy looking!!! I have asked a couple times if there was an adjustment to be made, and the answer is 'no'. My previous machine (2002D) cut them about 1/2" and did so much better. I do like the machine over-all.

I have not got that machine. Only against I can think of: did the lower the price because there's a new model? In that case I would choose the newer one.

I have no clue but I didn't know that you suppose to use the slow setting for FSL? ;D *2U

I know the nothing about the Innovis ron but if it's like Meg says I would not like it. I always use my slowest speed for fsl & other things also. *

The only thing I didn't really like is the speed adjustment, which, even though you can choose from a few (3 I think) settings, it won't stitch constantly slowly, on the lowest speed, but still automatically increases and decreases the speed.

To me, this speed variation is too fast for stitching out FSL and I have not been able to successfully stitch out FSL on my Innovis, so I just don't use it.

Now, my Innovis is not the 4000 but when I checked this element of the 4000 at the craft show, the demonstrator said yes, this is how it controls its speed, the same as mine.

I would suggest, before you commit to buying one, you go to a dealer and have a "hands-on" demonstration and make sure you query this aspect.

How slow will it stitch without varying the speed itself?

I think you will agree that sometimes you really must be able to stitch out slowly, especially on dense designs, towels and especially FSL as it can cause pulling and the outline and fill won't meet up.

Let us know how you get on and what you decide to do.
Hugs and love, Meganne

the 4000 D machine stitches constantly the speed of 350 spm(slow) 600 spm(medium) ot 1000 spm(fast)The slow 350 can be used for FSL

I've never had problems with speed variations with either my Innovis 2500D or my Innovis 6000D. Also, I do a lot of FSL that comes out beautifully, and I use the medium speed. I think that you'll love the machine.

meganne by meganne 19 Jan 2010

My Innovis has the 350 and 600 speeds but even if I set it at the slow speed it doesn't stay at that speed, it speeds up and down, going faster and slower, automatically, and every FSL I have stitched on it the centre of the design has pulled away from the outline. Stitched out the exact same designs on my other two machines and they turned out perfectly.

I love this site, Meganne! We all do things diffrently, run our machines diffrently, and, yet, we produce great things! ...Barb
