rent and there is no insulation. The landlord won't even get us the government rebate for insulation because the house is bigger he would have to fork out of his own pocket the remainder of insulation as the government will only pay $1200, and he also owns a few more properties aswell so I am not sure if the government rebate only allows for one property or multiple. It gets so hot inside that I had thick candles and they started to melt. The temperature is at the moment 38 degrees inside!!! The kids have an electric fan in their bedrooms. We however bought a portable air conditioner and I have put that in the games room with heavy curtains covering the doorways, so we are all going to try to sleep in there tonight. But the air con has been going now for 2.5 hours now and its not much cooler. Oh how I wish it was winter. Sorry for the long rant but I am so hot and sweaty. Yucky !! LOL

Oh my! I truly feel for you and your family! Like many others here I am a winter person. You can always put on more clothes if you are cold ...!! It was -5 Centigrade and sunny in this part of the Rocky Mountains today, however we're expecting some snow for the rest of the week. Enough said! Try and keep cool.
Hugs, Nadyne **4U
P.S. if you make one of those forms and fill with rice or wheat berries and put it in the freezer for a while it can be quite cooling.

You poor woman - I feel for you - I hate the heat and am a winter person. So is my son - I can't believe the landlord won't come to the party so to speak.

Just a suggestion - put up a damp towels in front of the fan and keep up the fluids. I have a great thing I bought up in Queensland it's a sort of scarf that you tie around your neck - it's filled with some sort of water retainer. I soak mine in the sink till it's fully expanded and then I tie it about my neck - it keeps the body cool for ages.

I'll add one of the website's and maybe you can investigate into it. Mine is all black with about two channels filled with the water soluble crystals. It's great for making you feel cool and today I received my pillow "cooler". I'm finding at night I'm getting so hot I keep turning my pillow over to keep cool. So this is something you insert into the pillow case and it will keep your head cool. No flies on me! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Love and blessings Chris

I have one of those scarfs and they are wonderful. Saved me from fainting during a blockparty last summer.

Thank you for that. I am definitely going to have a look. Will have to get them for everybody especially my husband as he is a truck driver delivering furniture so he definitely needs it.

It would be nice if everywhere across the world the temperature was evened out. I mean that is mid to high 20's everywhere and not so much extremes of weather.

I ended up taking my tshirt off and running it under the cold water tap and then putting it back on.

ingrid, I don't know for sure how you read your temperatures of 38 degrees C - there - is that 100 degrees F here? I feel for you - it is awful when it is hot - it is a shame that your landlord can get away without providing you with an air conditioner or insultation. It is 30F here and we expect snow in the morning. I don't know if that makes it worse for you or not. Hang in there.

It is 104 Fahrenheit. I wonder about the humidity factor

ingrid68 by ingrid68 18 Jan 2010

Yes that's about 104F. But the humidity today is extremely high this morning, it looks as though it could rain any minute now.

I am sorry that you are so uncomfortable. I can't stand heat either. One feels as if sacks of potatoes get added to your legs. Is this normal? Our summer temps get that high here in the Sacramento California area, but inside the house it is comfy due to aircondition. I hope yours is going to make some progress and give you some relief. Raining here.

My legs were some what swollen yesterday and felt very tight and a burning sensation. Had to have a cold shower to cool my body temperature.
